And repeatedly made offerings. Eventually, a boy was born and named Black. When he grew up, he led five hundred merchants on a ship to sea to collect jewels. When they got lost on the island of the ogresses, they called upon the noble Dhītika for refuge. Through the noble one's miraculous power, the ogresses were driven away, and they safely returned to their own place. Those merchants held a great festival for the Sangha of the four directions for three years. Finally, they went forth and were fully ordained in the presence of the noble Dhītika, and before long, all attained the fruit of Arhatship. Then, the noble Black, who had gone forth from the merchant caste, upheld the teachings, teaching the Dharma to the fourfold assembly. It is said that the attainment of the four fruits was непрерывно. Finally, he entrusted the teachings to the noble Sudarśana, who had gone forth from the royal family, and passed into complete Nirvana in a place called Kuśavana in the northern direction. Great Sudarśana. Furthermore, Sudarśana was the son of a man named King Darśana of the Kāśī caste in the western region, so he was named Sudarśana. When he grew up, on the way to the pleasure garden, he saw the Arhat Sukayana with many attendants and developed great faith. He prostrated at his feet and sat to one side. There, when that Arhat taught the Dharma, he attained Arhatship while sitting on that seat. When he asked to go forth there, his father became angry and tried to bind him with iron chains. At that moment, he rose into the sky and displayed the miraculous power of emitting rays of light. The father developed faith and allowed him to go forth, saying, "Please be compassionate to me as well!" After that, he went forth and taught the Dharma to his father, placing him in the truth. Then, he relied on the noble Black as his teacher and stayed with him for a long time. After the noble Black passed into Nirvana, the great Sudarśana subdued the fourfold assembly. That great Sudarśana subdued about five hundred nāgas and yakshas who did not believe in the teachings. He traveled throughout the southern regions, spreading monasteries and sanghas. He also established Buddhism on many islands, and also slightly propagated it in the great land of China, etc., saving countless sentient beings.

Having fully established in bliss, he passed into nirvana in the realm without remainder. Moreover, the king during the time of Black Dhitika and Sudarshana was Ashoka. It is said that when Dhitika was young and engaged in sinful conduct, it was the time of Black Dhitika, and later when he became a Dharma king, it was the time when Sudarshana propagated the teachings. After Sudarshana passed into nirvana, the king also passed into nirvana. Thus, those lineages from the noble Ananda to Sudarshana fully protected the teachings, and their manner of activity was similar to that of the Teacher (Buddha). It is said that although many Arhats appeared after that, none were equal to those who were similar to the Teacher (Buddha).
