Mala. From the pride of self-existing Avalokiteśvara, thinking of serving the feet of the Lama Amitābha, through the door of inseparable three secrets of body, speech, and mind, one should learn to accomplish the benefit of sentient beings with great compassion. The so-called practice of uniting great compassion and mahāmudrā is the teaching of the Sakya father and sons. 3-756 In response to the request of his disciple Drakpa Gyaltsen (name) to compose a concise sādhana of great compassion, the monk Konchok Lhundrup (name) wrote it very quickly at Ewam Choden (place name) and sent it to the east of Dokham (place name). May it be auspicious! Sādhana of the Three Deities, Great Compassionate One and Retinue Sādhana of the Three Deities, Great Compassionate One and Retinue. Homage to the protector Avalokiteśvara, the embodiment of great compassion who protects beings and fulfills wishes. According to the words of the guru, I will explain this sādhana for the benefit of others. Here, a beginner who wishes to practice the great compassion sādhana of the Jowo Je (honorific title) tradition, should sit comfortably in their own place, with postures such as the lotus position, and first take refuge: I and all sentient beings equal to the extent of space, from this time until reaching the essence of enlightenment, take refuge in the glorious and holy lamas. I take refuge in the Buddhas, the Bhagavat. I take refuge in the holy Dharma. I take refuge in the noble Sangha. Thus, take refuge sincerely. Afterwards, for the benefit of all sentient beings, may I attain the state of perfect Buddhahood. 3-757 Therefore, one should practice the great compassion of Jowo. Generate this bodhicitta. Afterwards, may all sentient beings have happiness and the cause of happiness, etc., practice the four immeasurables. Then, oṃ svabhāva śuddhāḥ sarva dharmāḥ svabhāva śuddho 'haṃ. (Tibetan:, Sanskrit Devanagari: , Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ svabhāva śuddhāḥ sarva dharmāḥ svabhāva śuddho 'haṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, purity of essence, all dharmas, purity of essence, I). From emptiness, one's own mind transforms into a white 'Hrīḥ' (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: seed syllable) with a jewel, radiating light and dissolving. It transforms into three white bindus, the middle one being large and the two on the sides being small. All transform into the three deities: in the center is oneself as the Great Compassionate One, with a body color as white as the rising sun on a snow mountain, possessing radiance. One face, four arms, with a smiling face. Hair half-tied up. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The hair is erected in a topknot, adorned with a white silk ribbon. Half of the hair hangs down on the left and right shoulders, appearing fluffy as if moved by the wind. The first two hands are joined in prayer at the heart. The second right hand counts a string of pearls, and the second left hand holds a white lotus near the ear. Adorned with various jewels, wearing various silks as celestial garments. Seated in the vajra posture. To his right is Jowo Norbu Zunpa (Lord Jewel Holder), with a yellow body. One face and four arms. The first two hands are joined in prayer at the heart. The second right hand holds a jeweled king of power with a handle, and the second left hand holds an ear of jeweled grain. Beautifully adorned with jewels and silk garments. Kneeling, looking at the space between Jowo's eyebrows. To the left is Jomo Drukdrukpa (Lady Grain Six), with a white body, one face, and four arms. The first two hands are joined in prayer at the heart. The second right hand counts a string of pearls, and the second left hand holds a lotus. Beautifully adorned with jewels and silk garments. Kneeling, with both eyes looking at Jowo's heart. At the heart of the main figure is a white seed syllable (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Chinese literal meaning: great compassion) on a moon disc, from which rays of light emanate, inviting the Jowo and his retinue of three from their natural abode in the sky in front. Inviting them with 'Om Vajra Samaja' (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་ས་མཱ་ཛཿ), and offering with 'Om Sarva Tathagata Arya Avalokiteshvara Sapariwara Argham Pratichchaye Svaha, Vajra Pushpe Ah Hum' (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་སརྦ་ཏ་ཐཱ་ག་ཏ་ཨཪྻ་ཨ་ཝ་ལོ་ཀི་ཤྭ་ར་ས་པ་རི་ཝ་ར་ཨརྒྷཾ་པྲ་ཏིཙྪ་ཡེ་སྭ་ཧཱ། བཛྲ་པུཥྤེ་ཨ་ཧཱུྃ།) and so on, then joining hands in prayer. Reciting in the mouth: 'Jowo Great Compassionate One, for the benefit of all sentient beings, please grant us the attainment of vast and supreme accomplishments.' Praying in this way three times, the three deities in front come to the crown of the head and dissolve into each individually. Then, visualize the white seed syllable (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Chinese literal meaning: great compassion) with bindu at the heart of the main figure, revolving with 'Om Mani Padme Hum' (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་མ་ཎི་པདྨེ་ཧཱུྃ།), all sounds reaching the ears of sentient beings, resounding clearly, purifying all the afflictions of all sentient beings, reciting the Mani as much as possible. Finally, offering as before, and reciting: 'Body color white, unstained by faults,' and so on, and praying: 'May loving-kindness and bodhicitta, unfeigned, arise in the mindstream, in all births and lives,' and so on. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
