# Meditation and Recitation of the Radiant Goddess **Meditation and Recitation of the Radiant Goddess** ## Refuge and Bodhicitta After reciting "I take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha" three times: Ah! Within three layers of golden pig enclosures, In the center of three-tiered sun and moon amulets, I appear as the yellow Radiant Goddess from the syllable MAM, Peaceful and smiling, holding needle and thread, seated in half-lotus. Wearing blue upper garment and white skirt, Adorned with various ornaments, crowned with Vairochana, At her heart, upon a moon disc, the mantra garland rotates leftward, Light rays invite countless identical deities who dissolve into her. ## Practice and Recitation After clearly visualizing this, for the approaching practice recite: **OM MARITSE SVAHA** Recite this as much as possible. ## Protection Practice All those to be protected are gathered within the tent, The light of sun and moon blinds harmful forces, May the compassion of the goddess protect us. **OM MARITSE RADIANT GODDESS, PROTECT US—TEACHERS, DISCIPLES, AND ALL PEOPLE AND POSSESSIONS, SVAHA.** Recite thus. ## Activity Practice From the light of my heart emanate Countless goddesses riding pigs filling the world, Sealing the mouths, eyes, and teeth of harmful enemies and obstacles. **OM MARITSE BADATALI, BADALI, BARALI, BARAHA MUKHI, SARVA DUSHTA PRADUSHAM SHATRUM VI... TSORA CHAKSHUR MUKHAM BHANDA BHANDA SVAHA.** Recite thus. ## Conclusion Offer with "OM VAJRA ARGHAM" etc., and praise: Merely holding your name and remembering you Protects from all obstacles, Bestower of stainless great bliss, I bow and praise the Radiant Goddess. Thus praise her. In case of fear or urgent situations, one may maintain the visualization without dissolving it. For ordinary practice: The deity's form dissolves into luminous emptiness. By this virtue, may I swiftly achieve the state of the Radiant Goddess, etc. Thus dedicate and aspire. This practice was composed by Chagme Rinpoche and arranged for group practice. May virtue increase! Sarva Mangalam! (All Auspicious!) Shubham! (Goodness!) --- ## Notes 1. **The Radiant Goddess** (Tibetan: Özer Chen, Sanskrit: Mārīcī) is an important female deity in Tibetan Buddhism, especially revered in the Nyingma tradition. She has the power to protect practitioners from various obstacles. 2. **The three-layered pig enclosure** is the goddess's mount and special symbol. Traditionally, Marichi rides a pig or pig-drawn chariot, symbolizing her ability to transform ignorance into wisdom. 3. **The needle and thread** are among the goddess's implements, symbolizing her ability to sew shut the mouths of obstacles, preventing harm. 4. This ritual includes visualization, recitation, protection, and activity sections, suitable for daily practice. 5. Chagme Rinpoche was an important lineage master of the Nyingma tradition, and this practice was authored by him. 6. The final Sanskrit phrases "Sarva Mangalam" and "Shubham" are auspicious blessings meaning "All Auspicious" and "Goodness."

Those are called all bases and half bases. The vowel-less La transforms the eighteen suffixes such as Kalāpa, which have ten meanings, into ten times, so they each perform their own function. The root of the scripture is: La's tipratasrajvi. Sipra thasatha. Mipra vasra masra. Ta ā tā mra jha. Thāsra ā thāmra dhvamra. Iṭra vahi mahi dra os. After transforming like this, by adding the beginning and ending letters to it, ting is understood as a general term. The first of the last nine, ta, and the last dra combined become tadra, which is the specific name of the last nine. By adding a negative word to it, atadra, which is not tadra, is the name of the first nine. When the eighteen suffixes are transformed, ti and so on, a total of one hundred and eighty, appear, and they exist in the form that has already been transformed in the Kalāpa. In other grammar books, tadra and atadra are called ātmanepada and parasmaipada, which are words of self-meaning and words of other-meaning. This treatise mainly shows concise words, so it is not explained in that way. The reason for self-meaning and other-meaning is also not absolutely fixed, because those suffixes are mainly self-meaning because they do not need to rely on other agents and mainly enter into their own actions, and they are called other-meaning words because they mainly enter into other agents. Supra tidra commonly have vibhakti, which is case, because they enter based on many distinctions of number such as one, two, and many, and many distinctions of meaning such as agent, object, and action. Both tadra and atadra each have three sets of suffixes, divided into nine. In the treatise, it says, "Yours are the middle three, and mine are the last." Like the words you and I, such as tvam and aham, when actually combined with the sound of the agent that has the power of a word companion, for their own meaning, the three suffixes in the middle before and after are used for the meaning of others, and the last three are used for the meaning of oneself, so the first three, through the power of implication, have the meaning of no distinction between self and other, and even if there is no word companion of self and other, it should also be known that it will change as mentioned above only by the power of the suffix. For one, two, and many, it is indicated by the word "o".
