The profound Dharma of the Sakya Kagyu, and the chain of great accomplished beings who hold these teachings, although they have filled the cool land of medicinal herbs, nowadays, the lifeline of the Buddha's teachings remains only a little, holding only superficial signs, like hail at the end of autumn that disappears. The places of study and practice of Sutra and Tantra have mostly gone to ruin. Worldly affairs disguised as Dharma spread everywhere, not to mention the laypeople, those who claim to be holders of the Dharma also revolve in the wheel of the eight worldly concerns, indulging in worldly affairs, and only use the sacred Dharma and the flowing river when needed, few people truly strive to practice. Even if someone strives to practice, they only divide the rule of the Dharma into you and me, and manage it with this mentality, wouldn't that make the treasury of Sutra and Tantra jewels shrink day by day? Most people, due to their shallow merit, are like the winter weather, the clouds of deep secret nectar rain gradually dissipate. Most of the Shangpa Kagyu's golden Dharma has become the object of offering to sacred objects flying in the sky, resulting in the interruption of both scripture and oral transmission lineages. In some places, although there are scriptures, the lineages of empowerment and oral transmission no longer exist. For those remaining lineages, how wonderful it would be if they could be maintained for a long time! But very few people worry about this, like a traveler's provisions that are gradually exhausted, which is worrying. Therefore, in order for the Dharma to abide for a long time, to distinguish between the presence and absence of empowerment and oral transmission, to distinguish between root and branch, and to determine the indispensable parts in the accumulation of texts that appeared in later generations, writing this catalog is meaningful. This catalog is divided into three parts: a narrative about the origin of the Dharma, a detailed classification of the number of key instructions, and a special explanation of the colophon of the books. The first part is divided into four: the distant transmission, the near transmission, the very near transmission, and how the later transmissions arose. The first part is: the king of scholars and accomplished ones, the five-fold complete Khyungpo Naljor, he successively mastered and attained accomplishment in Bon and Nyingma. Due to the karma of previous lives, and the maturation of the aspiration of Bodhisattva practice, at the age of fifty, he went to India, relied on thirteen supreme gurus, four root gurus, and one hundred and fifty scholars and accomplished ones, and studied Sutra and Tantra.

He listened to all the teachings. In particular, from the two wisdom Ḍākinīs who were directly embraced by Vajradhara, he fully received the profound and unique instructions that bestow the state of union in one lifetime. He established a monastery at Zhangzhung Dorje Den in Shang of Yaru (in the vicinity of present-day Angren County, Shigatse City, Tibet), and thus he was known as Lama Shangpa, and the lineage holders were known as Shangpa Kagyu. The five chakras transformed into five tantra divisions, and the miraculous powers of the accomplished ones, who were inseparable from the wisdom bodies such as Padmāvajra who actually demonstrated to others, continuously arose. Between the ages of one hundred and fifty, he turned limitless wheels of Dharma of sutra and tantra, maturing beings equal to the dust of the great earth. Eighteen thousand spiritual friends propagated the teachings of explanation and practice. In particular, the six supreme sons took hold of the lineage, and among them, the most excellent, Mogchokpa Rinchen Tsondru, received the single transmission of the oral instructions, which were transmitted orally between Drogon Sangye Tonpa, and were known as the Former Seven Jewels. Their disciples, the three wise and accomplished ones, unlocked the seals and recorded the oral transmissions in writing. As prophesied, the activities of Dharma spread throughout the earth, and the lineage branched out infinitely. The lineage from the wise and accomplished Shangton to Gyagom Lekgyal became known as the name of the Later Seven Jewels, and in reality, they were certainly equal to the previous states of accomplishment. It is said that this lineage, known as the Lower Lineage, completely repeated Kyungpo three times and Mogchokpa twice, and is therefore the most excellent of all. Among the categories of Dharma that arose from these lineages, there are those who practice the oral transmissions and Mahākāla etc. as they should, and there exists a lineage adorned with experiential signs and conviction that is superior to others, not just the names of explanations. Secondly, the later incarnation of the omniscient Dolpo Sangye, the great accomplished Tsondru Zangpo or Thangtong Gyalpo, etc., who is one body with five names, from the long lineage of the wise and accomplished Shangton's disciple Muchen Gyaltsen Palzang to the oral transmissions known as the Upper Lineage of Rigong
