Sung! The reason for being is that from the very beginning, one's own mind is free from the extremes of conceptual elaboration, being luminous and empty. From its own power, samsara and nirvana, all phenomena arise. Realization is Buddhahood; non-realization is wandering in samsara. Therefore, if the root of the mind is cut, the key to all phenomena is unlocked. This meaning should first be heard, then contemplated in the middle, and finally established through meditation. However, most Kusālipas of the practice lineage do not cut elaborations on their own minds, but practice cutting external elaborations themselves. For that, first, practice with stable abiding meditation. Cut off the root of arising, abiding, going, etc., of wandering thoughts. By understanding just a bit of the nature of reality, which is inseparable from abiding and wandering, inexpressible, and beyond mind, take it as the path. In the middle, without fabrication, in the natural state, without separating from self-awareness and mindfulness, cultivate it like a river flowing continuously, and experience will arise. Finally, invoke the blessings of the guru as the path. The essence of virtue is the power of devotion and compassion. Ordinary consciousness dawns as the Dharmakāya. Immaculate self-awareness awakens in the center of the heart. From within, cut off negation, affirmation, doubt, and elaboration. Directly realize the Mahāmudrā that transcends the mind. Because one's own mind is within oneself, there is no need to search for it elsewhere. Therefore, although it is easy to understand, mere understanding is not enough. One must be able to continuously maintain inseparable awareness. Without the shepherd of awareness, it is like a prince wandering now. The root of unscattered awareness is diligence. To be diligent in the Dharma, there must be renunciation from seeing the faults of samsara, and strong revulsion from worldly pleasures. Therefore, the root of meditation is precisely these. Those who are attached to the eight worldly dharmas at heart, and great meditators who lack renunciation and revulsion, and those who do not value the results of small pure appearances, these images of Dharma practitioners deceive themselves and others. Now, on the good path that does not deceive and pleases the Buddhas, without deviating from the practice of the wise and accomplished masters, may we aspire to learn in all lifetimes, and may we enter the kingdom of liberation without separation. Thus, this concise summary of practice was offered from Degu Lhundrub Teng by Lodrö Taye, at the request of Karma Thubten Rabpel, the abbot and tulku of the Zokchen Monastery's Chö practice lineage.
