Title of Instructions Title of Instructions Namo Guru. Since the root of all dharmas is the mind, if you can tame your own mind, then there is no need to do any learning. Wise people cut off distractions outwardly. Although they study hard all their lives, they often become knowledgeable in many things but accomplish nothing. Great meditators cut off distractions inwardly. When they realize the true nature, they will understand everything through one realization. The essence is not existent, even the Buddhas have said that they have not seen it. If you think it exists, you fall into the extreme of permanence. The nature is not non-existent, it is the basis of all samsara and nirvana. If you think it is non-existent, you fall into the extreme of nihilism. This is similar to the views of extremists who hold to extremes. The one who knows the essence is awareness. Therefore, awareness is precious from the beginning. When awareness naturally vanishes, when familiarity becomes stable, dwell in the nature of reality, there is no need to seek awareness separately. In that which there is nothing to meditate on, never having been distracted from the beginning, this is not a mixture of shamatha and vipashyana. You must have a firm conviction about this. Even if there is no dualistic appearance in the mind, if the appearance of objects is not liberated into space, then this is still a sign of verbal non-distraction. When awareness is integrated on top of appearances, when appearances and mind become one, then the sign of one taste will manifest. Appearances and mind are empty in the realm of dharmata. Although there is nothing to do, it is as good as having done it. Although there is nothing to meditate on, doubts are eliminated. There is no acceptance or rejection of what to do and what not to do. Non-meditation is a sign of being close to seizing the kingdom. Some foolish and stubborn meditators spend their lives just in shamatha and vipashyana, indulging in a state of non-thought, and never realize the true nature. Some fortunate ones, even as the years pass, their experience and realization increase like the waxing moon, and they directly see the truth of dharmata. This is related to the size of the accumulation of merit in the past, and the difference in faith, devotion, compassion. You are a fortunate and diligent person, and the fruit of a lifetime of practice will surely be integrated into the state of realization. Therefore, increase it with a conviction free of pride, and with faith, devotion, and compassion, so that you can bring the practice of the stages and paths to the ultimate end. Thus, the non-sectarian practitioner, in response to the teachings of the realized Chodrak, offered it from the solitary Kundeling in front of the Tsa Adra Rinchen Rock by the infinitely wise Kusali. Mangalam. Namo Guru. When the mind looks at the mind, the essence is emptiness.

Like the sky, Not a mere empty void, Its nature is clear and bright. From the power of emptiness and clarity, All kinds of good and bad thoughts arise, Even when they arise, They do not move from the Dharmadhatu. Just recognizing its essence, When resting naturally without artifice, Thoughts do not scatter, but abide in their own nature. The experience of bliss, clarity, and non-thought arises, Called Shamatha, the basis of meditation. With mindfulness and awareness, abide or change steadily, Upon recognizing one's own nature, liberate into the Dharmadhatu. Called Vipassana, the eye of meditation. Without needing to accept or reject abiding or changing, Whatever arises is sufficient, That is the indivisibility of Shamatha and Vipassana, the core of meditation. Just knowing and cultivating these, Though there are many names for realized ones, Few have integrated impermanence into their being, Their minds are captivated by the appearances of this life, Therefore, individuals who attain stability are rare. If one integrates this into their being without wasting it, The mind naturally inclines towards the Dharma. Not interrupted by distractions during the day, Therefore, the appearances of the night are liberated effortlessly. That yogi who integrates day and night, At death, liberates into the clear light Dharmakaya, They will not traverse the dangerous straits of the Bardo. From the power of the Dharmakaya, the Rupakaya arises, The deeds of the Buddha are spontaneously accomplished. The boundary between Samsara and Nirvana, Is solely awareness and unawareness. What is to be known is the Dharmadhatu, Suchness. The root of all Dharmas is one's own mind. Although the mind has no object to be seen, Nor a subject who sees with an object, Yet the mind's inherent power is unimpeded, The arising and gathering of thoughts is the view. All the appearances of Samsara and Nirvana, Are the forms of momentary thoughts. If one follows after thoughts, The delusion of Samsara is like an endless chain, Without beginning, it has never ceased, And still has no end. When one looks at the nature of thoughts, They are liberated into emptiness, All illusory appearances cease in the Dharmadhatu, That itself is peace, Nirvana. For the yogi who sees the truth, There is no difference between awareness and unawareness, But for beginners, Whether one practices or not is determined here, Therefore, always be aware of your own nature. For that, mindfulness and awareness are essential. The virtuous monk and ascetic of Khamdo, According to the wishes of Jampa Tenzin, Infinite Wisdom arose in the mind, Written at the place of Dragu Terdzong. May this benefit oneself and others, And liberate into the equality of Samsara and Nirvana! May goodness and prosperity increase! Aho! Without attachment.
