I, who practice the profound instructions of the Great Seal from the precious Practice Lineage, if I wish to maintain the preliminary stages with concise words, then first, I must clarify the four common preliminaries: Precious human rebirth with leisure and opportunity is difficult to find and easy to lose; the outer and inner worlds are impermanent, and I, too, will die quickly; the results of black and white karma are infallible and ripen upon oneself; there is never happiness in the realms of samsara. Therefore, one should properly practice the sacred Dharma. Among the four uncommon preliminaries, the first is taking refuge and generating bodhicitta: In front, in the middle of a lake, there is a tree with five branches. In the center is the root guru, Vajradhara. Circling to the right from the front are the yidams and the Three Jewels. In between are the Dharma protectors and their retinue. All beings are present with reverence in their three doors. I and all sentient beings equal to space, from this time until enlightenment, the five adornments of those who have gone to the three times, the collection of eighty-four thousand collections of Dharma, the source of the four thousand noble ones, the root and lineage gurus who are the essence of the Sangha, I take refuge. I always take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. I take refuge in the wisdom-eyed dakinis and Dharma protectors. Recite three or seven times or more, as much as you can. The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas who reside in the ten directions and three times, and the Bhagavan Vajradhara, the powerful one, and the Vajra Master, please consider me. Just as the protectors of the three times, for the sake of sentient beings, generated the supreme bodhicitta, so too, I generate bodhicitta. Just as the protectors of the three times, on the path to merit, wisdom, and enlightenment, progressed through familiarity with skillful means and wisdom, so too, I progress on this path. Just as the protectors of the three times, after becoming enlightened to omniscience, worked for the benefit of sentient beings equal to space, so too, I will do this work. I will liberate those who have not been liberated, I will free those who have not been freed, I will cause those who have not breathed to breathe, and all beings to Nirvana." } ] ============================================================

Record. If these verses of refuge and bodhicitta need to be shortened, it is sufficient to recite "Buddha, Dharma, Sangha" a few times. May all sentient beings have happiness. May they be free from all suffering, have joy and contentment. May they have equanimity towards all without discrimination. Thus, meditate on the four immeasurables. The refuge field dissolves into light and merges into oneself, becoming blessed. Second, the meditation and recitation of Vajrasattva: On a lotus and moon seat at the crown of the head, visualize the Lama Vajrasattva, white in color, Possessing the ornaments of the Sambhogakaya, seated in a half-lotus posture. At his heart, on a moon disc, the (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हूँ, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hum) syllable arises, surrounded by the hundred-syllable mantra. I beseech the Lama Vajrasattva, To purify the sins, obscurations, faults, and downfalls of myself and others. Having prayed, a stream of nectar descends, washing away sins and obscurations, Driving away diseases and evil spirits, transforming into the nature of light. Oṃ Vajrasattva (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་སཏྭ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ वज्रसत्त्व, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ vajrasattva, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, Vajrasattva) etc., the hundred-syllable mantra, and Oṃ Vajrasattva Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་ས་ཏྭ་ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ वज्रसत्त्व हूँ, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ vajrasattva hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, Vajrasattva, Hum) etc., the six-syllable essence mantra, recite as much as possible. Finally, recite "Protector, due to my ignorance" etc. I take refuge. Vajrasattva exhales from my breath, Dissolving into light and merging into me, becoming inseparable. Third is the Mandala: In the center of a precious, immeasurable palace in front, The Three Jewels and Three Roots are visualized as a gathering. Offer the thirty-seven-heap mandala, and sprinkle scented water on the ground. In brief: Mount Meru, the four continents, and billions of oceans, Filled with the wealth of goddesses, inconceivable. Whatever is worthy of offering in the fields of the ten directions, Taking it with respectful mind, I offer. With the skin as the base, the spine as the king of mountains, The limbs as the four continents, the mind as the wish-fulfilling jewel. The head as the wish-fulfilling tree, flesh, blood, and bones as containers filled with uncontaminated bliss and desirable qualities. From the wish-fulfilling jewel king of my own mind, Arise great clouds of Samantabhadra's liberation offerings. Filling the sky, I offer them, May all obstacles be pacified and the two accumulations be quickly completed. This is the outer, inner, and secret mandala offering. At the end of either the elaborate or concise version, To the assembly of Lamas who fully possess the three kayas, I offer in the same way, the outer, inner, and secret. Please accept my body, possessions, and all phenomena and existence, Grant me the supreme and ultimate siddhi. Grant me the supreme siddhi of Mahamudra. The field of merit dissolves into light and merges into me, becoming inseparable. Fourth is Lama Yoga: Visualize yourself as a yogini, on the crown of your head
