There is nothing that should not be done. For those who possess wisdom and skillful means, there is nothing that is called sinful. There are many such quotations in the scriptures. Therefore, not only the aim of minor actions, but also the methods of using union and other desires as the path, and the inconceivable activities of subduing and manifest conduct, all these show that the helpers and obstacles on the path depend on the individual. In 'Cleansing the Obscurations of the Mind,' it says: 'Evil consciousness clings to desire, desire itself becomes bondage. If the wise cling to it, desire will accomplish liberation. Milk pacifies poison, this is well known in the world. If a snake drinks it, the poison will increase greatly. Just as a swan drinks milk from water, so too the wise, having purified the poisonous realm, will be liberated by enjoying it.' As it is said, due to the difference in the individual's being, what increases merit for some becomes a fault for others. It is like the ketaka flower, if eaten by a fragrant elephant, it becomes musk, but if eaten by an ordinary elephant, it becomes dung. Therefore, if one enjoys any object by knowing its nature and grasping it with skillful means and wisdom, it will become a cause of liberation. If one does not know its nature and clings to it with attachment, it will become a cause of bondage. If the method of purification is skillful, as it is said: 'Attachment causes suffering, like swans, pigeons, etc., and the lustful donkey, gives rise to womb-born insects, etc.' As it is said in the 'Mindfulness Sutra.' If one is not skilled in the methods of subduing and manifest conduct, like the prophecy in the 'Manjushri Root Tantra' that the Brahmin Chanaka, who accomplished Yama, will fall into hell, there are many such examples. Nowadays, due to the influence of the times, people are of low intelligence and controlled by desire, so there are very few who practice the mantra traditions of animal lords, etc. Although they pretend to pursue the treasure of knowledge-holders like water, there are general errors in view, meditation, and conduct. In particular, manifest conduct driven by hatred, subjugation driven by desire, dark retreats driven by ignorance, and inverted severance practices that become allies of self-grasping, etc., in this time when endless errors are prevalent among oneself and others, the

Based on the noble individual's own liberation from the cocoon of doubt, to those who, though lacking the eye of hearing, thinking, and discernment, hold the vision of mantra as supreme, bestowing the nectar of speech that dispels doubts is a wondrous feast for the eyes. Desiring to benefit oneself and others, it would be pleasing to elaborate on the meaning, but fearing voluminous writing, it is said only briefly. Although discriminating wisdom is limitless, there is no fault in speaking truthfully. May the droplets of light from explaining according to the scriptures release the bonds of the dark meditator's lotus! This was spoken by the son of the Victorious One, Karma Ngawang Yonten Gyatso, a dull meditator, at the remote retreat of Palpung Monastery, the great Dharma center of Saju Ganden, having been greatly delighted upon seeing the letter offered by that supreme prince to Mindrolling Jetsunma. Said to dispel doubts about the Samadhi of longevity practice, named "A Needle of Light."
