Like instantly cutting the knot of Sogbon, relax slightly, without distraction. Apart from that, abandon all attachments of 'I will meditate on this,' regarding the object of meditation, the meditator, existence or non-existence, right or wrong, and bliss, clarity, non-thought, emptiness, etc. Finally, like a crow flying to a boat, just maintain awareness without losing mindfulness, and let wisdom transform freely without clinging. Based on that, take the appearances of the six senses, sickness, afflictions, and conceptual thoughts as objects and mix them in meditation. Through these, without distraction, concentration increases. In short, when meditating on calm abiding and contemplation, excessive relaxation leads to dullness, while excessive tension leads to agitation and the mind cannot remain still. Excessive tension causes faults and merits, mental suffering, and being controlled by doubt, one cannot achieve single-pointedness. Therefore, meditate with joy and certainty, with a balanced relaxation and tension. Whatever experiences of bliss, clarity, and emptiness arise, if you cling to them, you will be lost in samsara, so be without attachment, and maintain awareness of your own nature without affirmation or negation. Then, introducing the method of superior insight: Maitreya, the protector, said in the Ornament of the Sutras: 'Knowing with wisdom that there is nothing other than mind, then also realize that mind is emptiness. The wise know that neither exists, and not possessing these is abiding in the dharmadhatu.' As such, determine according to the three प्रमाण (pramāṇa, Devanagari: प्रमाण, Romanization: pramāṇa, literal meaning: valid cognition) of scripture, reasoning, and experience. First, all the fluctuations and appearances of conceptual thought do not exist outside of mind, for example, know that they are like a dream. If you think that solid, liquid, heat, etc., which are obstructive things, arise from the unobstructed mind, then what about the story of the cowherd who imagines horns on his head, or the mantra practitioner who conjures a dragon through mantra, and the Soma is gone, or seeing the deity through stable generation stage, etc., even in this life, it can be accomplished in the same way, then what is impossible to accomplish in this way since beginningless time, one has become accustomed to bad habits? In a full cup of water, the gods see nectar, the pretas see pus and blood, the flesh-eating demons see palaces, and humans see ordinary dirt and stones, etc., this proves that it is only a manifestation of mind and not truly existent. Having thus determined that appearances are mind, one should also know that mind is emptiness, and there is not even a particle of truly existent substance in the mind.

Why is that? Because when the conditions of external objects appear, In an instant, they arise and cease, merely awareness, a fleeting glimpse. These are the various distinctions of the eight consciousnesses, If you cut off the root of each one, the root is destroyed. "Alaya" is just a name, nothing more. For example, in a mirage there is no water, Yet like a thirsty deer mistaking it for water and chasing after it. To grasp onto this extremely false "mind" as "self," Accumulating negative karma is a great delusion. Therefore, the Victorious Ones in the Sutra Pitaka, Clearly stated, "On the mind, there is no mind." If there is no mind, then its nature, Why is it said to be luminosity? The so-called "mind" refers to the eight consciousnesses, They are the nature of delusion, conceptual thoughts. The so-called "nature of mind is luminosity," Refers to non-conceptual, non-deluded, self-aware wisdom. This is not newly attained through meditation, Nor is it bestowed by the compassion of the Victorious Ones, But rather the lineage of beginningless nature, the inherent potential, Through one's own accumulation of merit, purification of obscurations, the power of meditation, And the blessing and introduction of a qualified guru, What one already has, one sees for oneself. Therefore, it is the co-emergent wisdom that others cannot express, It cannot be found anywhere, It is said that one must rely on the skillful means of a glorious guru, And one's own merit to know it. Thus, the object to be grasped and the mind that grasps, The nature of being free from both is co-emergent wisdom, Like space, it is pure, boundless, and without partiality, In that freedom from elaboration, union of shamatha and vipashyana, Even if one can abide in equipoise for just a moment, It is said to destroy the darkness accumulated over eons. Such freedom from elaboration, the Great Seal, Is the essence of the view of both Sutra and Tantra. Teachers like Nagarjuna and others said that there is no view higher than Madhyamaka, And the Commentary on the Middle Way says that the meaning is the same, the meaning of the same view. Therefore, in the four hundred thousand mandalas of the Unsurpassed Empowerment, While receiving it oneself and bestowing it upon others, What need is there to mention the meaning of the Fourth Empowerment - the Great Seal, Practicing it oneself? Merely hearing the name and covering one's ears, What else could it be other than the work of the Lord of the Desire Realm? Thus, when meditating on the yoga of union, If one clings to bliss, clarity, non-conceptuality, etc., One will fall into the desire realm, form realm, and formless realm, Therefore, do not cling, do not obstruct, let it arise naturally.
