The First Chapter: Establishing That All Dharmas Are Inexpressible in Any Way. The First Chapter: Establishing That All Dharmas Are Inexpressible in Any Way. Herein dwells what is called "The Precious Treasury of Reality." In Sanskrit: Tathā-tva-ratna-koṣa-nāma. In Tibetan: Named "The Precious Treasury of Reality." Homage to glorious Samantabhadra! The basis for manifest enlightenment from the very beginning, The immutable, spontaneously present realm of the vajra essence, To the self-nature of mind, the Great Perfection, I pay homage, for it is without acceptance, rejection, coming, or going! The expanse of the nature of dharmas, which is inexpressible, The Great Perfection, the pinnacle of views, The meaning that is unlike anything else, transcending all, Just as I have realized it, I will explain; listen! The ultimate meaning of the heart essence of mind space, Is the single spontaneously present state of nonexistence and dispersion. Each and every one is bound by the key points of release, obstruction, and binding. It abides in the meaning of the la bzla and the four aspects. Here, first, is the teaching on the state of nonexistence. The nature of nonexistence is empty of essence. In the great expanse of the mind of bodhichitta, which is equal to space, However it may appear, it has no such nature. Just as in the embrace of the vast expanse of the sky, However the environment and beings, and the four elements may appear and change, Like that empty form, which has no nature, The dharmas that appear in the mind of bodhichitta are also the same. Just as whatever may appear as an illusion, Is empty in nature and without substance, All the dharmas of appearance and existence, from the very moment of appearance, Are not separate from the mind of bodhichitta and are without substance. Just as a dream does not move from sleep, And has no nature at the time of appearance, Appearance and existence, samsara and nirvana, in the state of bodhichitta, Do not move as they are, and are without substance or characteristics. Thus, although dharmas appear in the mind, They are neither the mind nor other than the mind. In the nature of nonexistence, clear appearance, and illusion, From this very moment, it is beyond speech, thought, and expression. Therefore, all the dharmas that appear in the mind, Should be known to be nonexistent from the very moment of appearance. Thus, just as the appearance of objects is without nature, The nature of the mind of bodhichitta, which is the subject, Is also like the sky in its essence of nonexistence. It should be known to be beyond speech, thought, and expression. In the self-arisen wisdom, the essence of meaning, There is no cause and effect, so the precipice of samsara is cut off. There is no good or bad, so the cycle of...

Having passed, calm and stable. Without error or obscuration, severing the craving for the three realms. The mind-essence, like the sky, is enlightenment. Without partiality or bias, its nature is non-dual. There is no view to hold, no meditation to practice, no vows to keep. Activity is effortless, wisdom is without obscuration. There is no purification on the ground, nor a path to traverse. There are no subtle dharmas, no dualistic connections. Transcending imputation and denial, there is neither dharma nor non-dharma. Like a golden island, it is a space without distinctions. The self-arisen mind-essence, like the sky, is a nature of non-existence, beyond all names and expressions. The essential meaning is clear and thorough wisdom. Because it is uncreated, virtue does not help. Because it is unchangeable, sin does not harm. Without cause and effect, there is no ripening of pleasure and pain. Without good and bad, there is no abandoning or adopting samsara and nirvana. Without thought or expression, it is the very essence of being beyond limits. Without before or after, lifetimes are mere labels. Who takes what, who wanders where? What action ripens, what is its fruit? Think and examine the meaning like the sky. Thinking and examining again and again, even when analyzing with wisdom, no part or substance, not even a particle, is found. Without a moment's division, without grasping or being grasped, from this very moment, it abides as the essential nature. It is not there when examined, and even more so when not examined. Even in mere words, it is not perceived, therefore. All phenomena are always non-existent. Understand the illusory, insubstantial nature. In the empty state of dreams and illusions, even if ignorant children are bound by attachment, those who know the nature cannot be bound. Likewise, ignorant beings are bound and wander in the non-existent dharmas. But those wise yogis who know this, from this very moment, are certain of non-existence. Without cause and effect, they are liberated into the realm of reality. The mind-essence of enlightenment is without permanence or annihilation. Wisdom without grasping naturally abides. The naked wisdom without cause and effect. The single bindu without virtue or sin abides. The wisdom that is clear and open, without beginning or end. The intention of the Dharmakaya Samantabhadra naturally abides. The essence of non-existence, self-aware enlightenment. The intention of the Victorious Ones, pure and without object, is clearly manifest. In the illusory yoga, wisdom is self-appearing. The non-existent dharmas arise as unceasing play. From the moment of arising, it is decided that it is non-existent. What is there to accept or reject?
