Fourth, Explanation of the Chapter on Revealing the Nature of Bodhicitta. Fourth, Explanation of the Chapter on Revealing the Nature of Bodhicitta. Thus, since the meaning is understood through close demonstration by examples, the definite nature of awareness, bodhicitta, is: The nature of the all-encompassing bodhicitta is: not appearance, transcending the phenomena of appearance; not emptiness, transcending the phenomena of emptiness; not existence, without characteristics of entities; not non-existence, pervading all of samsara and nirvana; not existence nor non-existence, spontaneously equal, the primordial realm; without direction or bias, without fundamental entities. The essence of awareness is not established as an object of existence or non-existence because it is free from the extremes of thought, speech, and elaboration. However, it inherently pervades all of samsara and nirvana. As it says in Rangshar: Since there is no birth, there is no cessation. Since there is no grasping, there is self-liberation. Since there is no object, there is no elaboration. It does not arise from action, but is present in everything. Since it is not compounded, it is the pure realm. The terminology of grasping is separate from phenomena. Since there is no self-nature, it is separate from expression. The true nature of reality is the expanse of awareness. Since it pervades everything, it is the nature of the father. Since it creates everything, it is the realm of the mother. In the inexpressible wisdom, The great teachings that cannot be shown reside. In the Dharmakaya free from abandonment and acceptance, The samadhi without object is clear. From the center of the uncompounded expanse, The king of awareness, wisdom, radiates. From the center of the expanse without birth and death, The self-arisen wisdom eye is clear. It is the one that pervades everything. So it is said. The essence of being primordially pure and vast, perfected in the nature of reality, is: Because it is continuous, the expanse of awareness, bodhicitta, is unchanging and immutable, the expanse of space is primordially vast, the meaning of self-arisen wisdom is unparalleled, not born, not ceasing, gathered into a single bindu, uncertain, all-pervading, without any direction or limit, the self-arisen wisdom of the realm is spontaneously accomplished, vast, and all-pervading. The essence of being all-encompassing and continuous is that it inherently abides as the source of the mandala, the wish-fulfilling treasure. As it says in the Jeweled Embellishment: One body appears to all sentient beings. One body perfects the welfare of beings. One body shows all appearances. One body does not abide at the edge. The vajra essence is the wisdom body. The essence of meditation is beyond words. The body of manifest enlightenment is self-luminous. One decisive wisdom is free from dualistic appearance. Vajra

The meaning of the body of the realized one is not accomplished. Not abiding in the two extremes, it is greatly self-illuminating. The vajra of the mudra is unchanging. Arising from the immovable mandala, the very true path is the body of great stability. The various bindus are the realm of the body. The mandala with symbols is the perfection of the three bodies. Without action, it possesses the realm of reality. Not moving from the one, it is the dharmakaya. Not being dual, it is the field of self-appearance. Transcending both ultimate and relative truth, it completely abandons the two extremes of grasping. The mandala vajra is the wish-fulfilling treasure. Unmoving at the edge, it is in a state of equanimity. The thoughts of straying and obscuration are cleared away. The dharmakaya does not arise from action. It cannot be grasped, like a reflection of the moon in water. Through compassion and skillful means, it self-appears, like the sun and its rays. By the power of wisdom, it is perfectly established. The mandala of meaning appears without limit. The mind-essence of the body is empty and without self. The aggregates of wisdom are free from birth and death. The inconceivable dharma-nature is peace. It is liberated in the realm of Infinite Light. The self-arisen body is perfectly pure. From the samaya of emptiness, it appears completely in the realm of awareness. Thus it is said. Although such a realm of reality is present in all, it is shown as the field of some fortunate ones, which is: The spontaneously equal, unmoving lineage of the vajra essence. This supreme, vast realm of reality, without gathering and scattering, is not a field of activity that can be expressed by words. It is the field of self-knowing, each individually, where the expanse of wisdom bursts forth. By the yogi who is free from thought, speech, and elaboration, having decided that it is neither expressible nor inexpressible, since he has not found anything to meditate on or to be meditated on, there is no need to kill the enemy of sinking and rising, conceptual thoughts. The self-face of awareness, transcending view, meditation, effort, and accomplishment, is the lineage of the vajra essence. The nature of the realm of reality without gathering and scattering, transcending expression and speech, is not the field of thought, speech, and elaboration, but the field of self-knowing, each individually, of wisdom. As it is said in the "King of Marvels Sutra": The dharma-nature, the mind of enlightenment, is inconceivable. It cannot be determined by thought and speech. And as it is said in the "Vajra Cutter Sutra": The dharma-nature is not an object of knowledge. It cannot be known. Thus it is said. It is the field of self-knowing, each individually. The Prajnaparamita, beyond speech, thought, and expression, is the very nature of unarisen, unceasing space. I prostrate to the mother of the Buddhas of the three times, who is the field of activity of self-knowing, each individually, of wisdom. Thus it is said. Other teachers, dharma-nature.
