Collected Teachings of Ngawang Lodro Drakpa JNLD255: 'A Rain of Great Secret Experiences: A Method for Guru Yoga' 9-137 'A Rain of Great Secret Experiences: A Method for Guru Yoga' I prostrate with reverence to the supreme guru, inseparable from Chakrasamvara. Here, regarding the Guru Yoga, there are three parts: preliminary, main practice, and concluding practice. First, the preliminary practice consists of refuge and generating bodhicitta. First, the refuge: Spontaneously accomplished, primordial, self-born, co-emergent, Primordially indestructible, the essence of the complete three kayas, The guru's mind is the essence of the ultimate refuge, Omnipresent, without separation, I take refuge. (Recite three times) Second, generating bodhicitta: The nature of reality is the realm of suchness, The inner sphere, the play of the Dharmakaya, is primordially complete, Yet beings, not knowing it as it is, are deluded, By seeing it as self-luminous nature, I liberate the realm of beings. (Recite three times) Second, the main practice of Guru Yoga: The essence of the primordial nature, the Dharmakaya Sugata, The limitless forms are the dance of the guru, Freely pervading, equal to the expanse of space, Entering according to the various distinctions of thoughts. The co-emergent, primordial wonder of the supreme bliss wheel, From the inconceivable play of manifestations, The blazing chief, the Vidyadhara, the Lord of Power, etc., Show the excellent deeds that suit the disciples to be tamed. Whatever form is an adornment of pure perception and devotion, In the space before you, in a realm of swirling rainbows, Upon a precious throne, on a fully blossomed lotus and moon cushion, The form of the great Samaya holder, the guru. Lord of Secrets, Savior Protector, Lord of the Mandala Ocean, Inseparable from the essence of (the root guru) (Lodro Drakpa). A beautiful white body, blazing with a reddish glow, A joyful and smiling face, the right hand in the teaching mudra, The left hand in equipoise, holding a vase filled with the inexhaustible treasure of the great secret Dharma, Adorned with the robes of a renunciate and the hat of a scholar, etc., The two feet in vajra posture, residing in the center of a mass of light, In the heart, on a lotus and sun cushion, the wisdom being, The form of the co-emergent Chakrasamvara, The source of all mandalas. Abiding in the excellent dance of the supreme one, To him, I pray with sincere reverence.

May light radiate in all directions from the lotus, and may the vast mandala of the three secrets (body, speech, and mind) of glorious Śrīcakrasaṃvara (Deity name, meaning: the Supreme Wheel of Bliss) pervade all of space. From this, may various emanations arise, including root and lineage gurus, yidam deities, assemblies of buddhas, bodhisattvas, śrāvakas, pratyekabuddhas, ḍākinīs, dharma protectors, and other diverse forms. May they appear according to the inclinations of those to be tamed, manifesting wonders and magical displays. All of these are the manifestations of the supreme guru, the embodiment of all refuges, the lord of the family. From the primordial nature of the Dharmakāya (the Body of Truth, meaning: the ultimate nature of reality), may wondrous adornments arise, along with the greatness of vast deeds, clearly appearing as objects of devotion and pure perception. Next is the seven-branch practice: The essence of the glorious, stable, and moving, the mind of the Dharmakāya (the Body of Truth, meaning: the ultimate nature of reality), completely transformed into the nature of the guru who tames beings, the endless expanse of the play of the ocean of mandalas (Maṇḍala, meaning: a symbolic representation of the universe), I respectfully prostrate to the supreme lord of the family. May the vastness of space be completely pervaded, the gateways to the accumulations of merit in pure and impure realms. Taking them all with devotion and offering them respectfully, may you be pleased to accept them, for the sake of accumulating merit for myself and others. All faults and breakages that contradict the supreme three secrets (body, speech, and mind) of Vajradhara (meaning: the holder of the vajra), accumulated by myself from beginningless time, I now confess and regret. Hereafter, I vow to restrain myself, please purify them. May the guru of the Dharmakāya (the Body of Truth, meaning: the ultimate nature of reality), with great displays of emanation, guide beings in various realms, and when the opportunity arises to benefit those to be tamed, I rejoice in the vast accumulation of merit by those to be tamed. To all sentient beings as vast as space, may activities be bestowed without limitation, according to their individual needs, in times of peace, coolness, and joy, may the appearance of dharma for the benefit of beings be continuous. May the ultimate Dharmakāya (the Body of Truth, meaning: the ultimate nature of reality) be eternal, stable, and unchanging, always without separation, spontaneously perfect from the beginning, and although free from birth and death, in the perception of others, may the conventional Rūpakāya (the Body of Form, meaning: the physical manifestation of a buddha) not disappear, but always appear. Through whatever means of accumulation, may the face of the Dharmakāya (the Body of Truth, meaning: the ultimate nature of reality) itself, not be confused about its inherent nature, gradually eliminating adventitious artificial thoughts and concepts, may we quickly realize the meaning of the profound state of being. Then, in order to bestow blessings, the special offering for the transformation of the Nirmāṇakāya (the Body of Emanation, meaning: the physical manifestation of a buddha): May the all-knowing, sovereign lord, Mañjughoṣa (Mañjuśrī, meaning: the Bodhisattva of Wisdom), be pleased by the power of pure merit, and in an instant, may the Nirmāṇakāya (the Body of Emanation, meaning: the physical manifestation of a buddha) transform and abide, into the magical dance of glorious Śrīcakrasaṃvara (Deity name, meaning: the Supreme Wheel of Bliss). The greatest of the great, Mahān Heruka (Great Heruka, 藏文:ཆེ་བའི་ཆེ་མཆོག,梵文天城体:महान् हेरुक,梵文罗马拟音:mahān heruka,汉语字面意思:Great Heruka), all-pervading Samantabhadra (meaning: the Bodhisattva of Universal Goodness), an extremely peaceful form, the color of indranila (meaning: indigo blue), radiant, clear, possessing a mass of light rays, beautifully smiling, peaceful. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
