All those belonging to the monastery must gather, listen attentively, and take this matter seriously. In terms of monastery management, impartiality is paramount. With the Three Jewels as our witness, we must wholeheartedly serve the monastery, avoiding laxity and strengthening management. For the tea and meals of the government, ourselves, the Khenpo (abbot), the caretaker, the monastery administration, my root guru, and local aristocratic patrons, the on-duty personnel will be responsible. For all others, their respective patrons should deliver the tea and meals; the on-duty personnel should not collect them, as this would interfere with the monastery's work. The schedule for recitations is as follows: on the 3rd, 7th, 8th, 10th, and 15th of each month, as well as all festivals, and for annual Namgyal (Victory Banner) ceremonies and Ribja Dema (Sparrow Expulsion), eleven monks each. Four monks will recite scriptures daily, and twenty-five monks will be assigned on the 4th, 11th, and 15th. On the 8th, eight monks will be assigned for the entire day to make Torma (ritual cakes), increasing to eleven after the tea and meals. The Kunrig (All-Knowing) ceremonies on the 6th and 13th will be rotated, and twenty-one monks will be assigned for the ceremonies on the 15th. In addition to these arrangements, we will increase the number of ceremonies as needed, during Dharma teachings or when the monastic college is on break, without special arrangements. Other individuals should seek their own sources of support after the tea and meals, and should not mix this with the monastery's work. The expenses for annual tea and meals should be as detailed in the ledger, and offerings should be distributed according to the original shares, without any deductions. The allocation of fields in summer and winter, rotations, studies, and other matters, as well as the tasks requiring the carrying of wooden staffs for management, and the ringing of bells for gatherings, in short, all the duties of the on-duty personnel should be carried out with concern for making the work meaningful, not just going through the motions. If situations arise where others do not take these matters seriously, this document should be regarded as precious as one's own eyes, and no deviations should be allowed. This was written by Ngawang Kunga Lodro Sangye Tenpai Gyaltsen Pal Sangpo of the Sakya (one of the major schools of Tibetan Buddhism) school. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
