If I don't keep it in mind, habits won't arise, and the path and ground will be perfected. So it is said. The teacher of experience and faith is, during the preliminary stage, searching for one's own mind but not finding it, not seeing it when looking, not grasping it when holding, then during the main practice, the lama points it out as non-existent, and still searching but not finding it, it's not that the mind has substance and therefore can't be found. Not seeing it when looking, it's not that the mind has become a form and therefore can't be seen, because you and I also can't see it, therefore even the Buddha can't see it, as it says in the Bodhisattvacharyavatara: "The world and the protector, also do not see mind with mind." So it is said. One should have faith in that non-existent thing. Not seeing it is equivalent to seeing the nature of reality, that is truly seeing the Dharma, as it says in the Two Truths: "Not seeing is seeing the Dharma." It is said in the Sutra of Profound Depth. Abiding in a way of non-appearance, is said to be seeing the truth. Whether it's mind nature or Dharma nature, if one sees it as something with form or substance, then it is wrong, therefore, here one should realize it as formless and non-substantial. As it says in the Diamond Cutter Sutra: "Those who see me in form, those who seek me in sound, that person walks a wrong path, and cannot see the Tathagata." The Buddhas see the nature of reality, the guides are the Dharmakaya. And also in the Madhyamaka it says: "The Buddha is not form, not sound, not consciousness, not mind, the Buddha's body is only the Dharmakaya, the two form bodies are, the delusions of beings." In the Eight Thousand Verses it says: "Son of lineage, the Tathagatas should be seen as the Dharmakaya, and should not be seen as the form body." So it is said. Therefore, because the nature of mind is emptiness, the mental events of memory and thoughts, liking and disliking, happiness and suffering, high and low, attachment and aversion, whatever of the eight worldly dharmas arises, is emptiness, without arising. In all the scriptures, sutras, and tantras, it is said that the nature of mind is non-substantial, the lama also points it out as non-substantial, and one's own looking also finds it to be non-substantial, therefore, one is certain that the nature of reality will not be mistaken. In the Manjushri-nama-samgiti it says: "All mistakes are completely abandoned, a mind without doubt in the three meanings." So it is said. In the experiential instructions, there are three things to be practiced: in equipoise, in post-meditation, and in union.

It should be practiced in this way. First, the understanding introduced during the previous introduction, merely understanding, merely experiencing, merely being aware, merely knowing, is not enough. One must practice and make it a habit, make it familiar, make it stable, and without being distracted from that state, maintain continuous mindfulness. The practice is also not fixed. One must practice in a way that completely eliminates the antidote. Go to a place without distractions, face the direction without red wind, keep the body posture as before, or whatever is comfortable. Focus the eyes on the tip of the nose, or whatever the eyes previously saw, or focus on the empty space in front. Do not think anything in the mind, do not recall anything in the thoughts, and in a state of not thinking about any concepts, relax and rest as before. At that time, even if sudden and abrupt thoughts arise, recognize their nature as emptiness, like water and waves, or clouds in the sky, and then rest calmly. Whatever thoughts arise are the magic of the mind. Know that the mind is empty, and emptiness is the Dharmakaya. In equanimity, all phenomena appear empty like the center of the sky. Without focusing on any object, rest without holding onto anything in the mind. In the post-meditation period, one should practice by knowing that all phenomena appear but are not real, like the eleven examples of illusion. Whatever thoughts arise in the mind, know that thoughts are empty and unreal. Whatever of the six consciousnesses arise in the six senses, do not let thoughts follow the objects. Know that bliss and emptiness are like illusions, and realize the union of appearance and emptiness, the inseparability of bliss and emptiness, the non-attachment of clarity and emptiness, and the non-duality of thought and emptiness. At all times, practice without being tainted by things and real phenomena. To practice in union is: in the state of appearance without reality, practice deity visualization, mantra recitation, prostrations and circumambulation, scripture reading, offerings and tormas, and all conditioned Dharma activities. All actions of body and speech do not cease, and know that the actions are not completed. All practices are like dreams and illusions, and practice with emptiness and compassion. The introduction of opening the sky is complete. The Chöd of Omniscient Drimé Özer, obtained from Vidyadhara Pema Lingpa.
