Herein lies the precious golden offering tree of supplication. Namo Manjushriye. Expanding the circle of wisdom in the sky of knowledge, its myriad rays of activity pervading the directions, you illuminate the Victorious One's teachings in every way. I respectfully prostrate to the feet of the glorious protector lama. From countless lifetimes of previous births, with vast accumulations of aspiration and compassion, here too, your immeasurable wisdom and compassion, and your clear establishment of the doctrine, have made you an unparalleled guide in Jambudvipa. Those with the power and dominion of human rulers have bestowed authority upon you, and you hold the essence of the sutras, tantras, and pith instructions, mastering the sources of scripture, reasoning, and secret instructions. The flowing hair of the great virtuous spiritual friends touches the lotus of your feet, and with manifest praise, you have become the second Victorious One of this era. Bestowing all that is desired, you are the precious great lama Sonam Gyaltsen, surpassing gods and humans. Having studied somewhat in the places of learning and contemplation, and taking the profound and supreme place as the essence, the impartial renunciate Penpa Zangpo requests and supplicates according to his own understanding. In your presence, with your good health, and diligence in teaching, debating, and writing, you greatly illuminate the doctrine. Especially, like the second Vajra Seat in the land of snowy Tibet, the great spontaneously accomplished temple of glorious Samye (桑耶寺), the source of Brahma, you have performed great merit in the place where the teachings of the Three Jewels flourish and spread. Hearing that all speak in accordance with what was seen before and after, immeasurable joy and wonder arise. Still, with your vast compassionate activity, I beseech you to consider and act for the sake of the teachings and sentient beings as before. Especially, although you have become the master of all due to your vast lineage and wealth, you see all as illusory, and turning away from worldly affairs, you cherish the three trainings by adopting the conduct of a renunciate. It is wonderful that the guides of beings have become sacred! Rejoice and praise! From the past, belonging to the lineage of believers, it is said that this virtuous person from Ani (Phanyul, present-day Pangduo Township, Linzhou County, Lhasa) asked about the establishment of the Basis, Path, and Fruit. To answer this question, I present and offer it in verses that do not contradict the words of the Sugata. I offer a letter as a token of reading. This language, which speaks clearly and pleasantly, is not confused by the way of composing poetry, has the wisdom eye of many scriptures, reasonings, and instructions, and is offered by the yogi who realizes the essence of the heart, from the temple where precious scriptures are piled up. May this virtue bring me and all beings temporary happiness and prosperity, and ultimately attain definitive goodness and enlightenment, and become the Dharma King who benefits limitless beings! Possessing a white reputation, merits, and a garland of virtues, skillfully holding high the great banner of the teachings, adorned with the name of glorious and virtuous, I prostrate with a hundredfold devotion, shaking the thousand-petaled lotus on my head. From the merit of all beings in the snowy land, the inconceivable and wonderful manifestation of the Tathagata, from immeasurable eons, with great compassion, I offer a few words to the ear of the incomparable Lama. As the sacred foundation of the wealth of the three realms. The precious wish-fulfilling tree of the Tathagata's teachings, skillfully bearing the great burden of upholding the teachings, you will not forget, possessing wonderful and supreme qualities.
