In the flowing lands, I wonder if they are preparing to offer holy water. The clear, pure water holds bubbles, like the dissolved essence of precious turquoise, or like sapphires and the autumn sky, or like a perfectly stretched turquoise rope. This water flows well from the snowy mountains and medicinal terraces, and from medicinal trees and flowers. Drinking and bathing in it brings immeasurable merit, and the riverbank is more excellent than other places. The good land of Mangde in the west is beautiful like a pleasing bow shape, with villages developing rapidly and people gathering from all directions. The river also flows from west to southeast. At the source of this place, there are many forest mountains, and in the middle valleys, grains, medicinal trees, and fruits flourish. Downstream, there are rice, barley, mustard, and other grains, with many kinds of grains and good tea trees growing. Honey, gromwell, and strange items, etc., are numerous trade goods, including silk, cotton, wool, etc., and also food that grows from trees and land, possessing eight best flavors, rich in butter, as well as brown sugar and various foods. The place of Mangde is known to be true to its name. The good valley of Meri in the north is like a flourishing wish-fulfilling tree, with the place prosperous and the land glorious. The clear river flows from north to south. At the source of this place, there is a gate of Tibet, and the continuous snow mountains are like white silk curtains. In the past, Padmasambhava built a mandala here, and there are also stones for subduing rakshasas. In the wide plain in the middle, on the east side of the river, there is Samye's Meza Tsocor Lhakhang, and on the west side, there are two Lhakhangs of Jampa (བྱམས་པ་，梵文：Maitreya，梵文罗马转写：Maitreya，汉语字面意思：弥勒) and Drolma (སྒྲོལ་མ，梵文：Tara，梵文罗马转写：Tara，汉语字面意思：度母), and Lhasa's Ushangdo Lhakhang is also built. Near there, on the rock wall of the north mountain, there are naturally formed footprints of Padmasambhava. Just seeing it once can close the door to bad destinies and lead to the path of liberation to higher realms. Downstream, there is the former capital of the king, and the village of the ministers, called "Gyal Lon Sa" (rgyal blon sa, the land of the king and ministers). The people here are of noble lineage and their appearance is more outstanding than others. Bumthang is a precious hidden land of the gods, with mountains continuously steep and no valleys of land collapse. The places are pleasant, and autumn brings abundant harvests. People are upright and abide by ancient laws. The pleasing villages have overhanging half-eaves, and there are many bamboo houses.
