྅ MA HA NDHI MA YA SHRA NTA NA BI HA RA TI SMA. The Great Perfection, the Illusion of Resting, is present. In the language of India: Maha Sandhi Maya Vishrantana Nama. In Tibetan: The Great Perfection, the Illusion of Resting. Homage to glorious Vajrasattva! From the unborn equality of all dharmas, The great play of non-dual wisdom's illusion. To the self-born, primordial king of mind itself, I prostrate, as it is unborn and inseparable. The Victorious One has truly spoken of the illusory nature of all dharmas, To realize their inherent nature, I gather the essence of sutras, tantras, and pith instructions, And will explain how to experience them; listen! The unchanging ground, the nature of mind, is the great sky, From the state of emptiness and clarity, free from elaboration, Like the stainless sun, moon, planets, and stars of the Victorious Dharma, The spontaneously present three bodies and wisdoms are inseparable. Naturally possessing complete qualities of clear light, This is the inherent, primordial state of being, The illusion of the true ground, as it is said. From that very state, sudden clouds of delusion, Like the state of sleep of a dreamer, Along with co-emergent ignorance, And the mind corrupted by grasping at duality. Arising from the ignorance of complete imputation, The confused appearances of the six realms are like a dream. Appearing as if real, one experiences happiness and suffering separately, All these habits from a long time, Places, bodies, enjoyments, and so on, Self-appearances of virtue and vice, happiness, suffering, and sorrow. Various forms are like those painted in a picture, One appears as many due to confusion, From grasping at multiplicity, confused appearances never cease. Alas! The nature of existence is like a dream, In the essence of the single, self-born mind itself, The confused appearances of ignorance's sleep are the grasping mind. These various and numerous dreamlike appearances, Are nothing other than one's own mind. The Victorious One said that wrong thoughts are illusion itself, Just as one who is intoxicated by datura, Various appearances appear, yet they are all delusions. Likewise, arising from the intoxication of ignorance's sleep, This appearance of the confused minds of the six realms, Is without truth; today, one should realize this. Confused appearances arise from confused grasping and confused thoughts, Without truth, without falsehood, beyond duality and mind.

Alas! Certainly, self-awareness is self-originated knowledge. In the vast expanse that is neither yes nor no, neither existent nor nonexistent, May the intention of the Victorious Ones be known as being like the sky. All dharmas are like the nature of a dream, At the very moment of appearance, they are essentially nothing, Yet form is not forsaken, and appearance does not cease, Temporarily false, a form that is empty in every way. If analyzed closely, it is neither true nor false, Neither existent nor nonexistent, its nature transcends extremes. Equal to space, beyond expression, separate from all objects of thought, May its nature be known as being pure from the very beginning. Thus, all phenomena and dharmas of samsara and nirvana, Having ascertained them as being like a dream, In order to experience them through meditation, the instruction given is: Upon a comfortable seat, sitting in full lotus posture, Taking refuge and generating the mind of enlightenment, From the very state of emptiness in which all dharmas are equally perfected, One should thoroughly meditate upon the illusion of emptiness. At the center of the lotus, moon, and sun on the crown of the head, Clearly visualize the root guru, yidam, and dakini, Together with the lineage gurus as being inseparable, Pray for blessings to master dreams. May I and all phenomena dissolve into light and merge into the guru, Relax in that space-like state and meditate for a moment. Through that, blessings and realization will arise spontaneously. Then, how to meditate on the main practice? Outwardly, mountains, valleys, places, and countries, As well as earth, water, fire, wind, space, and sentient beings, etc., The five objects of form, sound, smell, taste, and touch, And inwardly, the body, senses, consciousness, and all dharmas, One should repeatedly meditate that they are dreams. From yesterday onward, all past dharmas, In the mind, are like a dream from last night. What appears today is also an illusory appearance. Yesterday and tonight are like dreams, Tomorrow and tomorrow night are also future dreams. For all appearances, whether affirmation, negation, happiness, or suffering, One should maintain the recognition that they are dreams, And not meditate on the thought of reality for even a moment. Even when walking, sitting, eating, moving, and speaking, Hold onto the mindfulness of "being in a dream" without distraction. Whatever appears, whatever is done, whatever is thought, Without separating from the recognition that "this is a dream," Purify that which is insubstantial, vague, empty, wavering, And loose, hollow, and greatly unattached. Through examining that the object of grasping is an illusory appearance and a dream, The thought of grasping will naturally cease, and attachment will be severed. Through blocking the object, one is able to block the subject. Sometimes, appearance is a dream
