being one in the state of, like that, and the minds that appear to appear alike being one in the state of no essence to grasp, like waves being one in the state of water, and appearance and mind being non-dual, being one in the state of dharmata, like a cataract and the eye consciousness that grasps it being one in illusion, and not needing any analysis, like the garden of the sky being beyond the scope of analysis, these are indeed shown as the nature being in the state of the sky. The Samadhiraja Sutra says: 'Just as your own notion of self, likewise apply the mind to all things. All dharmas are the essence of emptiness, completely pure like the sky.' And the Kunje Gyalpo says: 'Thus, all phenomena of appearance and existence, being one in the state of no birth, grasping and grasper are invisible, beyond the speech and thought of conceptualization, the single sphere is the nature like the sky.' If one realizes that whatever arises is self-liberated, it is shown to be wise. Again, like this: Samsara and nirvana, non-dual, are one in the state of mind; various rivers are one in the state of the ocean; all are of equal taste, together born as one; the changes of the four elements are one in the state of the sky; the affirmation and negation of the mind are one in the state of emptiness; whatever arises is self-liberated, pure in non-duality as one; the play of waves is one in the state of the river; realizing it like that, one is a wise person. Like the waters flowing from the four directions becoming one in the ocean, samsara and nirvana being one in the state of mind, the Kunje Gyalpo says: 'All appearance and existence, container and contents, all buddhas and sentient beings, are made by mind and are one in the state of mind.' Like all the changes of the four elements not moving from the state of the sky, whatever arises as the aspect of view, meditation, conduct, result, and experience is one with the innate co-emergent. Toktsepa said: 'From where does the innate co-emergent arise? All are of equal taste, one in that state.' Like that. The affirmation and negation arising in the mind being one in emptiness is also because it does not move from that co-emergent wisdom. Like waves being one with water, whatever arises being one with no birth is also the mind's elaboration being the state of mind itself. Mind itself is originally the state of no gathering and scattering. The Gongdu says: 'Elaboration itself is no elaboration.' That is to say, conceptual thought having gone to the dissolution of the base is like water mixing.

For example, in the Doha it says: Just as water is put into water, / Those waters will merge into the same taste. / The mind with faults and virtues, / No protector can see. / The protector's mind-essence is without elaboration, that is, beyond the realm of sight. If one understands in this way, one is called a wise person. As it is said in Phalpo Che: To analyze the meaning is to be wise, not to speculate on words. / The third chapter is divided into two, in which the meaning of non-acceptance and rejection is taught without grasping: Now is the conclusion: All kinds of undefinable phenomena, / Are images of the nature of non-duality. / In the play of no good or bad, acceptance or rejection, / Do not grasp with the mind as two, rest in comfort. / As it is, it arises from the play of primordial purity, transcending action, searching, memory, and thought, and rests in the great bliss of non-duality. As it is said in Kunjed: In the unborn, completely pure Dharma-nature, / The image that appears as arising objects arises. / How it arises is the nature of non-duality, / As it is, rest in effortless great bliss. / Showing the self-perfected great perfection of non-grasping: When resting in this way, / On the object of no attachment, indefinite appearances arise. / The non-grasping awareness, the great spontaneity, / Is the state of self-perfected great perfection. / Whenever there is refutation or establishment of anything, the non-grasping awareness spontaneously arises, thereby spontaneously accomplishing itself in the state of great perfection. As it is said in Kunjed: Alas! I am the all-creating king, Bodhicitta, / I have no object of exaggeration or slander, / So do not think or meditate on anything. / Leave the three doors uncorrected, rest as they are. / How it arises is naturally self-liberated, / Like unborn space, transcending direction, / Know that this is self-perfected great perfection. / The conclusion of the ninth general meaning is the dedication of merit: Now dedicate the merit, / Thus, with the nature of equality of all dharmas, / In a state of mindlessness, practice in non-grasping, / With unbiased awareness completely bound, / May the weary mind now rest. / Thus aspiring: With the merit of the well-arranged garland of rare Dharma that instantly liberates the meaning of the essence, / May those beings who have not realized that all beings are the great emptiness beyond extremes, and who cling to the views, practices, and results of their respective schools

May those bound in cages, not having touched the view of freedom from habitual bondage, and those weary from the bonds of debate and clinging to reality, find rest in the vast sky of the Great Perfection, the nature of mind beyond intellect, the All-Creating Bodhicitta! In the unborn sky, clouds of essence gather, as the thunder of effortless emptiness resounds in reality. May we see the unwavering ground of mind itself, the supreme Bodhi, the meaning of the inexpressible, spontaneously complete essence! May the minds of beings, trapped in the net of grasping and fixation, those separated from the vast expanse equal to space, all travel in the realm of the Primordially Perfect Samantabhadra, completely pure in their own nature! May all those who are far away, holding onto the images of the profound, the waters stirred by the winds of conceptualization, become clear, unmoving, and spontaneously accomplished by the cool ocean of non-conceptual, self-arisen wisdom! This is the commentary on the tenth chapter, "The Wisdom of Realizing the Ground Does Not Abide in Extremes," from The Great Perfection: Resting the Mind in Its Nature. From "The Ancestral Legacy," the Collected Works of Longchen Rabjam (21), "The Great Chariot, Commentary on Resting the Mind in Its Nature, Great Perfection."
