The Abbreviated Empowerment Ritual: The Net of Light. Having bowed with reverence to the masters who understand the meaning and the oral transmission, I will now explain the empowerment ritual that is extremely simple. In an extremely secluded place, at the end of arranging five sets of mandalas of jewels, grains, medicines, fragrances, and incense in a row, it should be adorned with outer and inner offerings and tsok. If it is done very simply and at the same time, it is not necessary to set it up separately because it is one with the offering mandala, otherwise it is necessary. These should be placed on a white, spotless cloth, and five different colored silks should be laid on it, with thread drawings or lines making five sets of five circles, with jewels in the center blue circle, flowers in the white circle to the right of it, grains in the yellow circle next to it, medicines in the red circle to the left of it, and fragrances and incense arranged next to it, which is the practice. Then, the students are bathed with fragrance, medicine, and incense, and prostrate to the lama facing east, and facing west, visualizing that all the worlds are filled with jewels and so on. By offering the five sets of mandalas in order, they enjoy the supreme and common accomplishments, and especially they enjoy the inexhaustible Dharma with the qualities of jewels. With fragrance, they enjoy the pure sound of Dharma. With medicine, they enjoy the bliss of being freed from all suffering. With incense, they enjoy the taste of samadhi and enlightenment. With grains, they enjoy infinite wealth. Thus, the benefits are also explained. Then, there are four actual empowerments: the order of entering the mandala, the empowerment of entering, the introduction of what is obtained from the empowerment, and the order of relaxing and celebrating. The first has three parts: giving permission by question and answer: The lama asks, "Who are you, son?" In response to these three questions, the student says three times, "I am a single son of fortunate mind." The lama says, "If that is so, from now on, enter this mandala of mind that has never been born from the beginning." Thus it is said. Supplication: Then, the student joins his palms together and says: "O, O, Vajra Holder Lama, please consider me. I am in the three realms of samsara, abiding for a long time, memory loss."
