Ah, supreme hero! If one has not accumulated his merit, and has not relied on asceticism, what else is there? Thus it is said. Furthermore, if one makes offerings and pleases the great master of yoga, the lord of secrets, then one is also making offerings to all the Buddhas of the ten directions and three times; one is also making offerings to all the great mandalas; one is also making offerings to all the nearby mandalas; it is also called the nearby mandala, so there is no need to mention pleasing one's own yidam deity. The second of the common ones is the decline of individual liberation vows, as well as the ten non-virtuous actions, the five inexpiable sins, and so on; in particular, the faults of the secret mantra's vows that have declined will also be purified. Thus it is said: In the root tantra of Vajrasattva Mayajala, it says: If you offer the five empowerments and enjoyments, you are offering all the mandalas. There is no need to mention the nearby mandalas. All faults will be purified. In short, relying on and offering to the lama, the merits are inconceivable. In the heart lineage, the glorious Guhyasamaja, it says: Compared to making offerings and honoring as many Tathagatas as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River, honoring one pore of the lama's skin, or merely pleasing one pore, is more meritorious. Thus it is said. The profound collection of essential meanings, the ten general meanings, is called: The Stages of Lama Practice. For the benefit of the fortunate ones, the incarnate Garab Dorje has completed it. Ekajati, the protector of mantras, please be the assistant of this teaching! When you meet the fortunate ones, please grant the oral transmission! Please be an empty companion and grant accomplishments! Do not fall into the hands of unworthy vessels, protect the samaya! Samaya! Samaya! May there be auspiciousness! May there be prosperity!
