Since vast heart essence is inherently the appearance of objects, Mantra recitation, asceticism, and meditation obscure its very nature; Writing letters and virtuous deeds of body and speech Cause harm to the primordial liberation of self-purification. How is it liberated, self-purified, free from extremes, and completely perfect? By what is freedom from extremes, the two obscurations self-removed? Actionless, vast expanse, do not seek, great obstruction! Actionless body and speech, filled with the space between appearance and emptiness. The basis of completely liberated signs, primordially pure, Effortless actionlessness, clearing away the obstacles of mind; The three encounters are obstacles to enjoying objects. Whatever arises, without distraction, bind the object and mind together; Causeless self-liberation, not relying on conditions, this; Without bias, self-purified, there is no view of "this." Desire and attachment, along with extremes, clarify the three obstacles; The arising of appearance and awareness is a great obstacle to self-origination; Self-arising, free from elaboration, fills the space between cause and condition; The exhaustion of actions, faculties, words, and mind; Remove the two obstacles of deception, artifice, means, and wisdom. The very desire for the fruit that depends on the absence of dharma; Without need, and again desiring bondage, Relaxation, naturalness, genuineness, the obstruction of warmth; Transforming into its own state, filling the space between samsara and nirvana. Abandoning the dharma that harms the mind of desiring happiness; Self-abiding, dependence, and the actions of samsara and nirvana are absent. Neither self nor other, even the magical displays of appearance and awareness; By removing the obstacles of wavering vision, grasping, and weakness; Completely abiding, the obstruction of the limits of verbal elaboration; The magical displays of mind and heart are obstructed in every way. Filled with the space between the absence of dharma, mind, and action; Not examined by oneself, not transformed by the mind; Examined by intelligence and transformed by the dance of the mind; Sentient beings bound by self-entanglement of delusion, I have not seen the slightest difference in this. Body correction, speech restraint, and all actions on the mind; Memories, thoughts, aggregates, and evil appearances on objects; There is no difference in this, it again creates bondage. The center of the mind floats on the path of emptiness; The actions of objects and faculties are extinguished in sorrow. Because there is a vehicle and dharma in what; Is it an evil destiny, or is there perversion? Therefore, the teacher who is called Buddha is deluded, Establishing the nameless, mind and intelligence have no truth; The very seat of obstruction, confinement, and no action to seek Is without a place to stray and depart; This itself is the self, without beginning and without end; The meaning of self-originated heart essence is free from saying and desire; Without separation, to whom is the meaning of that essence instructed and free from? Appearance and awareness arise as conditions, this itself.

Id do! In the very nature of mind, which is primordially unmade, With the intellect of memory and discrimination, protect the meaning of the essential point of ultimate truth, With words of wisdom and self-validation. Those skilled in words and who primarily take cause and effect to heart, Unceasing hell itself is that, who else is there other than that? Body and speech are fabricated, and the mind's trust is held, In making the truth of reality without obscuration, What other antidote is superior to this? Therefore, unmade samsara and nirvana, when are they free from doing and not doing, What difference is there between the Great Perfection itself and something else? There is nothing to see in the mind, and cause and effect are not seen, Therefore, what use is virtue to this, which is free from sin? Combine the source of one's own system with the very beginning, For the sharp mind, the three realms are not transcended by the body, speech, and mind. Unmade, foolish appearance, to whom is there relaxation? This does not abide in either samsara or nirvana. Gathering the essential points of the secret reality of the Great Perfection, For the sake of the meaning of those with definite wisdom in the future, "With this letter of effortless self-liberation, May beings who have faith in this become meaningful without effort!" This is called the Great Garuda Soaring in the Sky, Completed by the Chinese master Shri Singha. Profound seal, secret seal, treasure seal, May the mantra-protecting queen protect it! ATHIRI (藏文,अथिरी,athirī,Meaning and benefit). Good! Sarva Mangalam! From the Legacy of the Ancestors, The Collected Works of Longchen Rabjam, (2), Called the Great Garuda Soaring in the Sky.
