Thereafter, all the wishes of the Shakyas and King Śuddhodana and his retinue were completely fulfilled, so the young man was named "Sarvārthasiddha" (All Purposes Achieved). Entrusting him to thirty-two mothers, including the caretakers, raising him like a lotus growing in a great lake, etc., are the acts of his birth. 4. Then, carrying a golden-eyed wooden staff adorned with wish-fulfilling jewels, he went to the scribe of all the children, named "Armor Insect," to the school of letters. Then, when he turned eighteen years old, in order to not cut off the lineage of the king, they requested him to take noble consorts endowed with special qualities. Although the Bodhisattva had become a stainless noble one from countless eons ago, in order to dispel the false teachings of the wanderers and others, it was the act of the supreme emanation body, therefore he accepted.

They set up seven chariots, seven iron pigs, and seven iron pots, and began to shoot arrows. The Bodhisattva could not bear to draw the bows, and all the bowstrings broke. His mother said, 'Bring me the iron hook from the lion's jaw.' So it was brought. There, he said to the Shakya youths, 'Strike this bow as it is.' But no one could strike it. The Bodhisattva took it, struck it, and drew it, piercing through seven tala trees, seven pigs, and seven pots, and plunging them into the ground. From the holes left after pulling them out, water flowed, which is called Arrow Water Well, and it is said to still exist today. Devadatta could only pierce through three, and Nanda could only pierce through four. Thus, in the competitions of archery, strength, running, jumping, and all other skills, the Bodhisattva became the most excellent, overwhelming all the arrogant Shakya youths with great power and making them ashamed. Become the protector and refuge of beings, benefiting protector, friends and helpers. You made that vow in the past, good hero, remember the past. On the bank of the Nairanjana River, near the end of the group of five good ones, by stopping the breath and so forth, he entered into unwavering samadhi, and having consumed only half a sesame seed each day, he practiced austerities for six years, and his body became extremely thin and emaciated. The gods said: This prince Shakya, the lord of men, also possesses the ability to benefit sentient beings, and the three realms are suffering and without protection. After you have acted virtuously, where will this protector go? Note: Inspired by the rays of compassion of the Buddhas, he arose from his austerities. At that time, the village girl Lekye offered milk porridge made from the essence of milk milked from five hundred cows, and prayed: Whatever merit there is in making this offering, may it accomplish all that is renowned, may the lord of men, who possesses supreme wisdom, quickly accomplish all his aims!
