Therefore, the lineage of the Tathagatagarbha is not severed for those with such a nature (of severance). If it were severed, it would contradict the statement that the Tathagatagarbha pervades all beings. Here, it refers to the severance of the lineage of the manifest realization that increases. Because in samsara, there is absolutely no possibility of any being attaining Buddhahood. Because of this reason, from the perspective of the causal nature, the wisdom of realization and the mind cannot enter the Dharma at all. From the perspective of external conditions, one will not encounter a virtuous spiritual friend. Even if one encounters them, one will not understand. For example, it is like a scorched Bodhi sprout, or like showing white and red colors to a blind person, there is no opportunity to enter the path. As it is said in the Magical Manifestation Sutra: "Even if the Dharmadhatu pervades all, If one lacks the opportunity for self-realization, It is like showing colors to a blind person, This is the severance of a lineage without opportunity." So it is said. It is conscious. This is divided into two: a brief explanation and a detailed explanation. First: There are also four types of conscious beings, namely: the fearful, the distracted, the attached, and the conscious with faith. Detailed explanation: There are four types: those who engage in fearful actions, and so on. First, from the perspective of cause, driven by the fearful afflictions of the three poisons, one engages in intensely negative actions such as offering sacrifices involving killing. From the perspective of result, what is fearful is that even among the three lower realms of hell, one is cast into the deep suffering of the hot hell, the extremely hot hell, and the uninterrupted hell. Therefore, if a person with wisdom who is skilled in the law of cause and effect were to look at these, they would feel terrified, hence they are called fearful. The distracted, and so on. Distracted conscious beings are distracted by profit and fame for the sake of this one lifetime. In order to achieve power and fame in this life, through arrogance and hatred, they engage in various distracting activities such as waging war, fighting battles, horse racing, and gambling. The attached, and so on. The characteristic of attached conscious beings is: attachment to food and wealth, attachment to lineage and family, attachment to relatives and wives. And for these, they diligently worship the worldly god, the Great Powerful One.

Having firm faith in the types of wealth deities such as Kubera, Yaksha, and Bhra-men, and engaging in meditation, recitation, offering, and praise. Furthermore, relying on the three worldly things: objects, mantras, and illusions, one deceives others to acquire wealth and possessions, changes the perceptions of ordinary people, and deceives them, thereby abandoning the afterlife. This is having the notion of faith and desire. The fourth characteristic of having the notion of faith and desire is: because there is no certainty in view, one remains in a scattered state, yet one does not slander the Three Jewels, feels ashamed of sinful actions, and does not engage in non-virtuous deeds. This is having a slightly white seed, and through cultivation, there is an effect on it. For example, like the story of the householder Pal-skyes. Wrong conception has two aspects: brief and extensive. The first is: Direct statement, there are also two types of wrong conception: because of clinging to inverted views and being dull towards the object to be known, it is called a "stubborn one," and because of clinging to the two extremes of permanence and annihilation and supporting inverted views, it is called a "non-Buddhist." These are the two. Extensive explanation: There are two types: stubborn ones and non-Buddhists. The first has three aspects: brief, extensive, and the definition of "stubborn." The first of these is: Direct statement, the stubborn ones themselves also have two types: those who are naturally inverted without a teacher or master to explain, and those who are inverted due to other causes. The intermediate one has two aspects: Enumeration, naturally inverted, and, Direct statement, the first, naturally inverted, even without the fault of inciting non-virtue, due to the habitual practice of previously committing non-virtuous deeds, one clings to views that are inverted from the correct view, that is, one views that all appearances of cause and effect of virtuous and non-virtuous actions and past and future lives do not exist from the beginning. Like the current appearance, one believes that it appears spontaneously without cause or condition, like mushrooms suddenly sprouting on a grassland. Similarly, one believes that there is no permanence for the outer world of environment and the inner world of sentient beings. Inverted by conditions. Direct statement, the second, inverted by conditions, refers to the six non-Buddhist teachers.

There are eighteen in total. That is, six thinkers, six followers, and six meditators, making eighteen in all. If arranged numerically, they are: Pūraṇa Kassapa (འོད་སྲུངས་རྫོགས་བྱེད་), and others, with the word "others" including other teachers: Makkhali Gosāla (ཀུན་ཏུ་རྒྱུ་གནག་ལྷས་ཀྱི་བུ་), Ajita Kesakambali (ཡང་དག་རྒྱལ་བ་ཅན་), Pakudha Kaccāyana (མི་ཕམ་སྐྲའི་ལྭ་བ་ཅན་), Pūraṇa Kassapa (ཀ་ཏ་ཡིའི་བུ་ནོག་ཅན་), Nigaṇṭha Nātaputta (གཅེར་བུ་པ་གཉེན་གྱི་བུ་), these six are the thinkers. Also, the Brahmin Victorious King (བྲམ་ཟེ་བསྒྱུར་རྒྱལ་), True Name (རྣམ་བདེན་), Good Protector (བཟང་ལྡན་), Complete Life (ཚང་པའི་ཚེ་), Lotus Essence (པདྨའི་སྙིང་པོ་), Red Brahmin (བྲམ་ཟེ་དམར་པོ་), these six are the Brahmin followers. Also, Remaining Practice (ལྷག་སྤྱོད་), Far Flying (རིང་འཕུར་), Universally Traveling Virtuous (ཀུན་ཏུ་རྒྱུ་རབ་བཟང་), Boy Universally Victorious (ཁྱེའུ་ཀུན་རྒྱལ་), Sage Without Afflictions (དྲང་སྲོང་ཉོན་མོངས་མེད་), Increasing Pūraṇa Kassapa (ལྟེང་རྒྱས་འོད་སྲུངས་), these six are the meditators, making eighteen in all. These heretical teachers are the heretics from the time when the teachings of the past Buddha Kāśyapa (འོད་སྲུང་) were declining. Following these six thinkers, three groups of six, a total of eighteen heretical teachers, one will completely adopt the evil view of nihilism. That is, they claim that there are no ripening results from white karma of virtue and black karma of non-virtue, and that present appearances arise suddenly without cause or condition, and that after death they also suddenly disappear, believing that there is no future life, which is annihilationism. In the *Star Constellation Sutra*, it says: Make the virtuous woman happy while she is alive; after death, it is not her place of enjoyment. The body also disappears like ashes; how could there be rebirth? They say: Saying there is a future life is a lie, it is not true. Saying there is later rebirth is like cutting off the tracks of a jackal on a large plain; no one has reached the root. They say: Many teachers proclaim many things, like cutting off the tracks of a jackal. The so-called many teachers are the Buddhas, and the so-called many proclamations are saying that karma, cause and effect, and past and future lives are lies. Speaking without seeing is like the tracks of a jackal. The story of this is: In the past, a cunning person who could not find a livelihood drew many huge jackal tracks at a crossroads in a city and told the people that a demon named Jackal-Body would come and eat everyone. To avert this, food and wealth should be hidden away.

He said to them, "Go over there and for seven days do not look outside, hide inside." After others did as he said, he took all the food and possessions to another place and left. Just as in that place there was not even the trace of a jackal. The mendicant Gautama, wanting to be respected, frightened the householders and their retinues, saying, "There is karma and there are past and future lives." Therefore, he receives respect. He says, "There is no karma, no past and future lives." He believes that the mind is not the essence of the elements. For that reason, he says that there are no past and future lives, and that is his own tenet. Regarding the definition of "eternal." Quoting: The literal meaning of "eternal" is: because there is no future life, it is eternal. This means: believing that there are no past and future lives and karma, etc., is the nihilistic view among wrong views. For example, just as digging the ground and hitting a rock, it is impossible to dig again, so past and future lives, karma, good and bad realms, etc., all say that there is nothing other than this life, and cling to one side. There are two kinds of heretics: brief and extensive. The first is: Quoting: The view of the heretics, in the terminology of the sutras, should be known to have four distinctions. What are the four? The heretics who practice adultery, in order to seek good realms, perform non-virtue and do inappropriate things. For example, just as the head and body are not commensurate, so one does not speak of adultery. The word "and" is a word that summarizes the following. The heretics who rely on evil supports, relying on Phya and Ishvara, perform life sacrifices. The heretics who only hold signs, in the time of the decline of the Buddha's teachings, do not act according to the Dharma inwardly, but outwardly behave cautiously. The word "and" is intended to summarize the heretics who rely on the lineage. This heretic only holds a small part of the lineage of the nine vehicles. These are the nine heretics who have gone to the extremes of eternalism and nihilism. These four distinctions mentioned above, they believe that there is karma and past and future lives, want to be liberated from the fear of the three lower realms, and want to obtain the happy result of good realms.
