是一切过患的根本，就像赞美毒蛇的头一样，对自他都有损害。因此，贪欲是一切欲界众生增长贪爱的根本，是出离心修学的障碍，是解脱道的仇敌，仅仅是女人身的过患，以及显现于五根门前的对境的控制，五毒互相交织，难以分离，从这样的监狱中没有解脱的机会，是令人感到痛苦和厌恶的原因。根本：想要安乐却努力造作，愚痴的力量压倒了痛苦的因果，依靠锋利的武器，将自己完全置于损害之地。如飞蛾扑火，以及被声音、气味、味道、触觉所迷惑，如鹿、蜜蜂、鱼和大象，与五种欲望的对境相互依存。意思是说，想要安乐，却努力造作与安乐相违背的恶业，善念被愚痴的力量压倒，不得不承受痛苦的因（恶业）和果报，例如依靠锋利的武器，实际上是将自己置于受损害之地。就像飞蛾因为贪恋灯火而烧死，鹿因为贪恋笛声而被猎人杀死，蜜蜂因为贪恋花香和花蜜而死去，鱼因为贪恋鱼饵而被鱼钩钓死，大象因为贪恋母象的触觉而死去。仅仅是其中一种欲望就能夺走生命，更何况是与五种对境 постоянно 相互关联呢？根本：轮回的境地是猛烈的火，愤怒的显现是粗暴的野兽，比野蛮人和国王的惩罚还要快，痛苦从前到后世代相传，折磨着这些众生。意思是说，轮回是所有痛苦的根源和所依，因此在世间轮回的境地，仅仅是相遇就会被猛烈的火焚烧。同样，老虎、狮子、熊、野人等，以及比国王的惩罚还要严厉的，在他们看来，六道众生各自的痛苦从前到后世代相传，折磨着这些众生，所以说是猛烈。根本：对我来说，无论是朋友还是不和睦的亲戚和仇敌，都无法思量一切。

Therefore, desire is the root of increasing attachment for all beings in the desire realm, an obstacle to the study of renunciation, an enemy of the path to liberation, merely the fault of the female body, and the control of objects appearing at the five sense doors. The five poisons are intertwined and difficult to separate. There is no opportunity for liberation from such a prison, which is the cause of increasing suffering and aversion. Root: Wanting happiness but striving to create, the power of ignorance overwhelms the cause and effect of suffering, relying on sharp weapons, placing oneself completely in a place of harm. Like moths to a flame, and being deceived by sound, smell, taste, and touch, like deer, bees, fish, and elephants, interdependent with the five objects of desire. It means that wanting happiness, but striving to create evil deeds that are contrary to happiness, good thoughts are overwhelmed by the power of ignorance, and one has to endure the cause (evil deeds) and effect of suffering. For example, relying on sharp weapons is actually placing oneself in a place of harm. Just as moths are burned to death because they are attached to the light of a lamp, deer are killed by hunters because they are attached to the sound of a flute, bees die because they are attached to the fragrance and nectar of flowers, fish are caught by hooks because they are attached to bait, and elephants die because they are attached to the touch of female elephants. If only one of these desires can take away life, what need is there to say if they are constantly interconnected with the five objects? Root: The realm of existence is a fierce fire, the manifestation of anger is a violent beast, faster than the punishment of savages and kings, suffering is passed down from generation to generation, tormenting these beings. It means that samsara is the root and basis of all suffering, so in the realm of worldly existence, merely encountering it will be burned by a fierce fire. Similarly, tigers, lions, bears, savages, etc., and those who are more severe than the punishment of kings, in their view, the suffering of each of the six realms is passed down from generation to generation, tormenting these beings, so it is said to be fierce. Root: For me, whether it is a friend or a discordant relative and enemy, it is impossible to contemplate everything.

Scorching refers to piercing from the midline of the body with a sharp end, burning the brain marrow into ashes, and flames rising from the doors of the senses, etc. Extreme heat refers to burning the brain marrow and skull into ashes with a three-pointed short spear, wrapping the outside of the body with burning iron plates, and being boiled and tortured in boiling bitter water. Avici refers to burning the body and flames together in a burning iron chamber, not only that, but also constantly burning until the karma of torture ends. Root verse: Breathing from suffering, all arising from delusion, nearby doors open, falling into a pit of charcoal fire. Decayed corpse mud accumulates thickly, swords and knives stand in forests, immeasurable ash rivers, the cold wind of death blows. This is to say that, in general, the eight hot hells, especially those born in Avici hell, breathe from this great suffering, relying on delusion, when the karma is exhausted, they come out from the gate of the burning iron chamber, and when they reach the place where the nearby doors are opened, they will fall into the charcoal fire pit and suffer. Similarly, in the extremely thick mud of decayed corpse mud, and in the forest of sword leaves, and in the immeasurable ash river, being blown by the cold wind of the god of death, etc., each suffers torture.
