If that retribution ends, it itself will turn into: hair, fish scales, a mixture of pus and blood, and sewage filled with mud, blood, and feces. Seasons reverse, gales arise, water splashes everywhere, and the mountain base becomes cold. Sandalwood groves flourish greenly, growing on the Malaya Mountains. However, here, forest fires blaze, flames intertwine and spread, and many burning logs fall, making crackling sounds. The giant waves rising from the water reservoir, fearfully soaring high, with foam scattering everywhere, even if they turn into foam piled up there, will become a desolate land filled with rough red sand, where red gales howl, turning into a desolate graveyard. If one desires to raise rain clouds there, what falls from the clouds is rain like iron arrows, accompanied by thick smoke and burning embers. Scorching, diamond-like rocks scatter everywhere, like golden lightning, and red and yellow electric flashes fall on the body like rain. Thus it is said. Secondly, wandering in the sky. The subtle point is: the hungry ghosts and spirits wandering in the sky, as well as yakshas, rakshasas, tsen, and kings, etc., through the magical power of karma, can wander everywhere without hindrance, manifesting various kinds of harm, such as spreading diseases, stealing radiance, and interrupting life. One day and night for humans is equivalent to one month for hungry ghosts, and their five hundred years are equivalent to fifty thousand human years. They suffer in the world of Yama. These too, because they are classified as the realm of hungry ghosts, suffer immeasurable pain, such as being in unpleasant environments, suffering harm, feeling fear, enduring hunger and thirst, and wherever they go, they contract the previous fatal disease, and they themselves are forever tormented by it, so they steal the patient's life and radiance, merely to bring harm to others, immediately causing discomfort, and even if they go by magical power, they appear to be protected on dangerous roads, their own bodies are like doors, like thorns, like burning logs, or they turn into dogs and birds and so on in various forms. Some have enjoyment because of small good deeds in the past, but they are tormented by many other sufferings, and most of the time the seasons are reversed, and the happiness of others becomes their suffering, etc., endlessly. As the scripture says: When heat oppresses, blizzards also become blades, and when cold winds strike, flames also become cold. Because extremely unbearable karma is fully ripened.

Ignorant! Here, all these things appear upside down. A mouth the size of a needle's eye, yet fearing vast and immeasurable dimensions. A starving preta with a large belly, even if drinking all the water of the great ocean, cannot satisfy the vastness of its throat, rather, the breath from its mouth would dry up even a drop of water. As stated in the "Friendly Letter": Even pretas, due to the poverty of desire, generate continuous and unbearable suffering. Caused by hunger, thirst, cold, heat, fatigue, and fear, they endure extremely unbearable torment. Some pretas have mouths as small as the eye of a needle, but bellies as large as mountains, tormented by hunger. Even if they find a tiny bit of food like eye discharge, they do not have the power to enjoy it. Some pretas are skin and bones, naked, like dried-up palm sprouts. Some pretas are burning, with fire blazing from their mouths, consuming burning flames and falling sand as food. Some wretched pretas cannot even find pus, feces, or unclean things like blood. They fight each other, consuming pus squeezed from tumors that have grown on their throats. For the pretas, in the summer season, the moon is hot, and in winter, the sun is cold. Trees become fruitless; by merely gazing at them, they can dry up rivers. Continuously enduring suffering without interruption, beings bound tightly by the ropes of negative karma, some do not die even after five thousand or ten thousand years. That is, one month for humans is considered one day for pretas, and five hundred years of their lifespan, calculated in this way, is equivalent to fifteen million human years. Third, encouraging not to cling to samsara but to strive in Dharma: The nature of suffering is immeasurable. Seeing such a nature as repulsive, for the sake of beings with affinity to attain liberation, abandoning far away the mind that delights in samsara, you must practice the sacred Dharma of peace. This is excellent advice. Explaining animals in two parts, the first part is the aspect of suffering: Now, it will be shown that animals also have no happiness. Animals generally dwell in the expanse of the four great oceans, consuming each other, their suffering is immeasurable. Those dwelling in the dark oceans between continents are also fearful of the harm of heat, cold, hunger, thirst, and being eaten by each other. Scattered in the human realm, birds and wild animals, etc., are tormented by hunters, each suffering

Now, the suffering of animals will be explained: Horses, cattle, mules, goats, sheep, and donkeys, etc., are used and beaten, suffering endless pain. They die for their meat, skin, and bones, their inherent suffering is boundless. Nagas experience pleasure and pain day and night or half-days, pleasure and pain changing from morning to evening. Some places have rain of gravel, some are lonely and suffer from poverty. Most are ignorant and fear garudas, etc., possessing various kinds of suffering. Their lifespan is also uncertain, some live only a day, while others, like the Naga king Dhrtarashtra, are said to live for a kalpa. In general, the animals dwelling in the ocean, outside the great ocean, in the space between the four continents, are filled with fish, shells, crocodiles, etc., crowded like a mass of fermenting beer. The big eat the small, and the small eat the big, and so on. The iron mountains of this continent extend beyond the others, and the iron mountains of the others extend beyond this one. The outer edge, which is not clearly defined, is like the darkness between continents, because there is no light from the sun and moon. In that water, one eats another, and there is immeasurable suffering from hunger and thirst. Scattered animals are the insects, bees, birds, deer, etc., that dwell in the mountains, plains, water, rocks, and sky of the human realm. These each suffer from heat and cold, hunger and thirst, one eating another, and immeasurable disease and harm. In particular, there is harm from hunters, fishermen, and bird catchers. Some die for their meat, skin, and bones, and are ultimately killed after being used and exploited, beaten, and bled, suffering endless pain. In the land of the nagas, whether day or night, morning or evening, whenever there is pleasure, there is also suffering from heat and cold, hunger and thirst, and many other individual sufferings. In some places, there is rain of gravel, and some are abandoned by all, not accepted into the group, and are lonely and without companions. The common sufferings are ignorance, the fear of garudas, the fear of mantras, and immeasurable forms of harm. Their lifespan is also uncertain, some live only a moment or a day, while the Naga king Dhrtarashtra and others live in the intermediate
