Meditation Instructions on the Six Dharmas Meditation Instructions on the Six Dharmas Herein are the Meditation Instructions on the Six Dharmas. I prostrate to the venerable Lamas. The meditation instructions on the Tummo of the Six Dharmas are as follows: First, sit comfortably on a cushion, the key points of the body are: legs crossed like eyes, spine straight, hands in meditative equipoise, shoulders extended, neck slightly bent, tongue touching the palate, eyes lowered to the tip of the nose, visualize the Lama on the crown of the head. Pray for the arising of Samadhi in the mindstream. Simply remember your own body as the Yidam. First, focus on the emptiness within the body, this is the practice of emptiness. Meditate for one session, lasting several days. Then, the practice of the channels: In the straight center of the body, the central channel extends upwards from the crown aperture to the secret place below, with the Roma channel on the right and the Kyangma channel on the left, descending from the right and left nostrils, merging into one with the central channel about four fingers below the navel. Regarding color, it is said to visualize the right as red, the left as white, and the middle as blue. However, one can visualize it as any one color: white, straight, empty, clear, possessing these four characteristics, meditate until the mind can grasp it, or practice for several days, along with the manner of looking, It is very important to do so. Second session. Then, the practice of the winds: inhaling, filling, holding, shooting like an arrow, this is called the four characteristics. First, exhale many times, thinking that all diseases and defilements are purified. Then, inhale slowly and deeply with a moderate amount of air, pressing down the upper wind by one-third, that is, pressing it on the navel. Filling is drawing the lower wind in a circular motion, making the abdomen bulge, and holding it in the central channel. Holding is releasing the breath naturally, thinking that the air flows slowly from the pores. Shooting like an arrow means that when necessary, visualize the air gushing upwards from the crown aperture. If it is too much, it is similar to transference of consciousness, so it should not be done too much. By practicing in this way, even if holding the breath for a long time, there will be no fatigue or discomfort, which indicates some progress. Third session. Then, the practice and combination of bindus: First, visualize the triangular channel wheel at the eyebrow center, which is connected to the crown aperture. There, visualize the essence of wind and mind, the bindu, white and shining, smooth and round, about the size of a medium pea. After it becomes clear there, with the sound of "Sem", visualize it entering the crown aperture, and focus on it. Then roll it again in the central channel, focusing on the root or tip of the secret place, choosing whichever is comfortable, and focus on the breath.

Following and meditating, focus on the target, and meditate between bliss and what appears as manifest. When withdrawing, gather at the eyebrow center. These are called the three trainings, whose nature is to grasp conceptual thoughts. If the mind can grasp non-conceptuality, then the wind is grasped. From this, the rock warms and heat arises. From this, bliss arises. From bliss, non-conceptual samadhi arises. As it is said in the sutras: Focus the mind on the target, do not let it continuously wander, etc. Signs such as smoke and mirages will appear even if you do not want them to. The order of oral instructions is as it is in the scriptures, so this practice is written down here. The key to making what has not been grasped be grasped is complete. The method for stabilizing what has been grasped: Arrange the posture of the body, generate the mind, contemplate the lama, and pray that samadhi arises in the continuum. Meditate on the body as the deity. At the junction of the three channels. The fourth session is Tummo A-thung The essence is bindu, the aspect is fire. The color is red, the touch is hot. Think of it as being full of bliss. Focus the mind on that, and think of it as burning like a needle point. If it is not clear, then hold the mind on a flame that is two or four fingers high. This will generate warmth, bliss, clarity, and non-conceptuality. If it has already arisen, then stabilize it. In other lineages, there are four focuses for this. We only do one, for a total of five sessions. Although many methods are taught, they are not written here. Third, related to stabilizing and enhancing. First, if you meditate as before but only warmth arises, then meditate on increasing the fire. Meditate on the fire blazing fiercely from the Tummo A-thung (藏文:ཨ་ཐུང་། ) and pervading all the navel chakra. Once that is stable, meditate on the fire filling everything below the heart chakra. Then, meditate on the Tummo (藏文:གཏུམ་མོ། ) filling the entire body from below the throat, the color is red, the touch is hot, the essence is bliss, and the aspect is clear. These can be alternated every few days, or done at the same time. Meditate in conjunction with physical exercises and good food. For this, the Drukpa lineage has four focuses, which we have condensed into one. It is also fine to meditate on them separately, there is no difference. Warmth will arise. There are six sessions. If you sweat, do not move your body, wipe it off, and make the fire smaller. If warmth has arisen but bliss has not, then rely on the second chakra of Tummo (藏文:གཏུམ་མོ། ) and meditate. From the A-thung (藏文:ཨ་ཐུང་། ) in the navel, a flame eight fingers high burns to the crown of the head.
