and the three powerful manifestations are made one, and the ground of ignorance habitual imprints that causes the mind's own nature to project a body, and what is abandoned by the path of seeing alone, and what is abandoned by the path of meditation alone, and what is abandoned by merely generating pure grounds based on the continuum of individuals abiding in the seven impure grounds, and what is abandoned at the extreme of continuity based on the continuum of individuals abiding in the pure grounds, etc. The dharmadhatu's own nature is utterly pure, and the adventitious stains that obscure it, if summarized in terms of types, are nine kinds, namely, the lotus's stamen and bees, etc. The nine similes thoroughly show the order as it is. The stamen of the afflictions close by that obscures that realm, if thoroughly distinguished by the classification of substances, are eighty-four thousand, and transform into surpassing limitless classifications, etc. Just like the limitless classifications of the Tathagata's wisdom. These nine stains such as attachment, in short, in order, are rightly shown by the nine similes such as the lotus's stamen. The content in between is clarifying what was just said, and is commentary words, so it is easy to understand. The second is: These stains make children and, Arhats, learners, intelligent ones, respectively, four and one and, two and two impure. As it is said, the Bhagavan said that all sentient beings have the Tathagatagarbha. What obscures that, the nine kinds of adventitious stains, what is to be obscured, the classes of sentient beings, children, ordinary beings, and Arhats of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, and those abiding on the path of learning in common, and especially Bodhisattvas, intelligent ones, are impure. That is, in order, the first four obscurations, the habitual imprints of the three poisons, make the children of the higher realms impure, and the powerful arising of all of these makes the children of the desire realm impure, and the one ground of ignorance habitual imprints makes the Arhats impure, and likewise what is abandoned by seeing, and the two that are abandoned by meditation, make the ordinary learner and, the noble learner both impure, and the impure

The defilements based on the seven grounds and the defilements based on the three pure grounds cause the Bodhisattvas who have not reached the end and those who have reached the end to be impure. Because each individual mainly possesses specific things that need to be removed, it hinders the manifestation of the ultimate Dharmadhatu. Third, showing the way to purify defilements is divided into seven parts: the way of the three latent tendencies, the fault of violent arising, the fault of the ground of ignorance's habitual tendencies, what is abandoned by seeing and what is abandoned by meditation in the common vehicle, especially the defilements of the seven grounds, what is destroyed by the vajra-like samadhi, and the summary of the meaning. The first part is: Just as a lotus grows in the mud, it brings joy to the mind when it appears in front, but later the joy turns to nothing. The joy of desire is also like that. Just as the living being bee is extremely agitated like a spear thrust, so too, when hatred arises, it causes suffering in the heart. Just as the essence of rice and other grains is obscured by the outer husk, so too, the seeing of the meaning of the heart is obscured by the shell of ignorance. It is said. How is it? When a lotus flower newly grows out of the mud and appears in front of the viewer, it makes the mind very happy. But soon after, it withers and the joy disappears. Similarly, the latent tendency of the affliction of desire also feels joy when attachment arises from improper attention, but later when it subsides, there is no more joy, just like the joy of seeing a lotus. Therefore, the latent tendency of desire is like a lotus. How is it? When another takes the honey of the living being bee that is attached to honey, the mind becomes extremely agitated with hatred, stabbing with its mouth like a spear and causing stinging pain. Similarly, when the latent tendency of the affliction of hatred increases and anger manifests, it also causes stinging pain of suffering in the hearts of oneself and others. Therefore, the latent tendency of hatred is like a bee. How is it? The essence of grains such as rice is obscured by the outer chaff and husks and cannot be seen. Similarly, the manifestation of the Tathagatagarbha, which is the meaning of the self-luminous Dharmadhatu, is also obscured by ignorance.

The latent tendencies of delusion, etc., are like eggshells, obscured and unseen. Thus, the latent tendencies of delusion are said to be like chaff. Secondly: Just as impurity is displeasing, so too are those attached to desire. Because of attachment to sensual pleasures, all arising is like impurity. As it is said, just as impure objects are displeasing and loathsome, so too those attached to the desire realm, because of relying on sensual qualities, etc., are the cause of many misdeeds. All arising of the three poisons of affliction, i.e., intense manifestations, are like a great impure body, a place to be disgusted and厌烦. Therefore, the manifestation of the three poisons is said to be like impurity. Thirdly: Just as wealth is obscured, one does not know the treasure and does not obtain it, so too the naturally occurring wisdom in beings is obscured by the earth of ignorance and habitual tendencies. As it is said, just as when a great treasure of inexhaustible wealth is obscured and hidden by much earth, the poor do not know that there is wealth and cannot obtain the treasure. Similarly, for beings who are like the poor, the naturally occurring wisdom-light, which possesses inexhaustible qualities, is obscured by the earth of ignorance and habitual tendencies, and thus cannot be seen. Therefore, being possessed by ignorance and habitual tendencies is said to be like earth. Fourthly: Just as sprouts, etc., grow in succession, cutting the seed's skin, so too by seeing reality, the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing are reversed. Connected with the noble path, those who have destroyed the aggregates of existence, the wisdom to be abandoned by cultivation, are shown to be like tattered clothes. As it is said, just as the sprouts, trunks, branches, etc., of trees grow in succession, gradually cutting the seed's shell. Similarly, by gradually seeing the ultimate truth of the dharmadhatu, the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing are gradually reversed. Therefore, the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing are like fruit peels. Connected with the manifest realization of the nature of the four truths of the noble path.
