Meaning of the Tantra. Meaning of the Tantra. Praise. Secondly, the meaning of the tantra has two aspects: praise and benefit. The first part consists of twenty-one verses. First Verse. The first is: Homage to Tara, swift and courageous mother! Her eyes are like a flash of lightning! From the lotus face of the three-world protector, Born from a hundred thousand lotus stamens! This means that the lotus face of the three-world protector, or the noble Avalokiteshvara, is born from a hundred thousand lotus stamens. With great loving compassion, she swiftly accomplishes the benefit of sentient beings, and fearlessly protects from all fears, possessing unobstructed courageous power. She knows all phenomena, as they are and as many as they are, in a single instant with her wisdom eyes like lightning. With these excellent qualities of wisdom, compassion, and power, she liberates all sentient beings from samsara. To that goddess of extraordinary activity, I pay homage! The nature of homage is reverence with the three doors, which is to show the abandonment of pride. The following homages should also be understood in this way. Second Verse. The second is: Homage to the autumn moon, completely full! Her face is like a hundred full moons stacked together! With a thousand stars gathered together, Radiating light, blazing brightly! This means that her face is extremely beautiful and clear, like a hundred autumn full moons stacked together, and her body radiates light like a thousand stars gathered together. Third Verse. The third is: Homage to the golden-blue lotus born from water! Her hand is adorned with a lotus! Generosity, diligence, asceticism, and peace, Patience and meditation are her realm! This means that the goddess who holds a golden-blue lotus in her hand possesses the generosity of giving what is desired, the diligence of rejoicing in virtue, and asceticism, which is the discipline of abstaining from misdeeds, peace, which is the wisdom of discriminating dharmas, patience that is not disturbed by circumstances, and meditation that is one-pointedly abiding on a virtuous object, thus encompassing all six perfections. Fourth Verse. The fourth is: Homage to the crown of the Tathagata! Acting in infinite victory! Obtaining all perfections without exception!
