The foundation must be established through this method. The eleven are: the complete search for differentiation, individual examination, detailed review, calm abiding, insight, union, clarity, non-conceptuality, equanimity, continuousness, and the differentiation of non-distraction. The first is: searching continuously in one's own mindstream for whether the mind exists or not, and what its own nature is like. The second is: examining in detail the color and shape, etc., as well as the place of origin, the three places of going, and the foundational support, etc. The third is: searching sequentially for the searcher and the one who can search, etc., until the very end. The fourth is: in this way, through searching, examining, and reviewing, one first establishes that one's own mind is without self-nature, and similarly establishes that all phenomena are merely names, therefore the mind abides closely in the profound meaning. The fifth is: also searching for the nature of that abiding itself as before, thereby completely realizing one's own nature. The sixth is: these are not different entities and are indivisible. The seventh is: if there is sinking and dullness, one should remember the cause of excitement and uplift the mind. The eighth is: if it becomes scattered and excited, one should strive to adopt methods to pacify it. The ninth is: when free from sinking and excitement, one should abide in the nature of searching, examining, and reviewing. The tenth is: one should never be separated from such yoga. The eleventh is: one should diligently settle the mind on this, not giving distraction an opportunity to take advantage. If one is merely attached to understanding and general meaning, then the meaning cannot be accomplished, therefore it must be generated in the continuum in accordance with the Dharma. In actual practice and during all session breaks, one should not be separated from examining one's own mind, and one should focus inwardly on what the state of mind, the way of moving, and the way of dwelling are like, and diligently strive without distraction. The forty-third Dharma talk. Thirty-six objects of focus. The third is to introduce after establishing it as luminosity and emptiness: The way of appearance differs according to the level of intelligence of beings. The sudden one is that due to the guru's devotion and great accumulation from the past, small obscurations, merely praying to the guru, or merely hearing the Dharma, or through various hints and circumstances, after breaking the meditation posture, without knowing what it is, the realization of any of the three higher yogas, together with the lower experience and progress, appear at the same time. The direct crossing over is:

The difference between previous habits and immediate wisdom is great. Even if calm abiding is not generated, the experience and realization of insight will arise. Sometimes calm abiding arises, sometimes neither arises. Gradually, the power of habituation weakens. The true practice tradition is that first calm abiding, then insight, then the experience and realization of union gradually arise. Although this is a lot, it is stable because it is a lot, so the introduction is also done in this way. At the time of introduction, display the blessed supports. Arrange offerings and tormas, and good gathering implements. All the teachers and students pray to the Lama and the Three Jewels. Do not let those who break vows and those who are sinful and defiled approach. Without distraction and obstacles, let the students practice the essential points of the body and preliminaries as before, and then let the mind relax naturally. Nakedly look at the nature of the relaxed mind. Maintain continuous mindfulness without distraction. Whatever thoughts arise, do not deliberately accept or reject or modify them, but look at their own nature. This is what Sarahah said: Water and fire, abide in self-illumination. Coming and going, I neither take nor abandon. This is what it means. In short, the so-called ordinary consciousness, or the present consciousness, is this clear and empty, naked awareness that is free from grasping, and this is the introduction. It is not to be sought and practiced from elsewhere. It is not to make someone who does not understand practice, but to make the present moment of awareness, sometimes tightening and sometimes loosening, constantly maintain continuous mindfulness without distraction. Relax in meditation, tighten in post-meditation, and if you practice whatever arises without attachment and self-liberation, the wisdom of insight will arise. Gyalwa Yang Gonpa said: The mind is free from grasping, it is the realm of emptiness. The clear and empty awareness is free from thought. Abide in your own nature and look at yourself. Practice insight and you will see the face of insight itself. Say this and let them practice in this way. Forty-fourth lecture, thirty-seven objects of focus. At this time, ask what the mind is like. Because unnecessary empty sounds will be emitted, ask while restraining them. Whether what he said is just a catchphrase and a degree of happiness, and suspecting whether experience has arisen, also eliminate it, and ask from a deep level.
