116 116 The mind-son of Je Gampopa, inseparable from Je Gampopa himself, Je Gompa Tsultrim Nyingpo, after the passing of Je Gampopa, sang teachings to all the disciples of Je Gampopa, saying: As it is said: "In the view without doubt, arises the realization that cuts the root. In the meditation without division into sessions, the three times also appear as innate. In the conduct without pretense, arises selfless benefit for others without self-interest. In the fruition without hope or fear, one should also rely on habituation in the mindstream." Having said this, someone said, "Please give a practical instruction that can be kept in mind," and he also said: "This melody is the same as that one, they are one and not two. This mind itself, born together, if held tightly, is innate. If loosened, it is free from elaboration. If realized together, it is the Dharmakaya. Not wanting to abandon conceptual thoughts, and not deliberately cultivating non-conceptuality, freedom from pride is the nature of mind. This clear, empty, naked awareness, guarding it without distraction is the instruction. If there is none, then release the knowing. Father Dzamling Drakpa said that." The meaning of this is: The basis of view is that all phenomena of aggregates, elements, and sense bases are devoid of inherent existence, and to view them in this state of root-cutting is the view. The realized one who possesses this view, because there is nothing whatsoever to be meditated upon as an object of fabrication, does not need to divide meditation into sessions. In all times, past, present, and future, not focusing on any of the phenomena of aggregates, etc., the realization that cuts the root will be continuous and naturally vast. Such a great meditator, inseparable from experience, does not see any faults to be abandoned, so the true antidote increases from above, and he always practices the conduct of the noble Samantabhadra, spontaneously accomplishing the virtue of his own nature. He does not abandon faults, but with the pretense of the three doors of body, speech, and mind, he desires his own happiness, and by guarding the precepts in a self-written and self-entered way, he does not accomplish the benefit of himself and others. Having gained confidence in such view, meditation, and conduct, there is no fear of not attaining Buddhahood, and no hope of falling into samsara or nirvana, because he wishes to perfect the habituation of the realization of the equality of samsara and nirvana. Thus he thought. So, the view that cuts the root is one's own mind.

If it is thought that this place is facing the measurable aggregates and so on to look at, it is not. This luminous mind, the essence of the co-emergent Buddha, does not fall into the category of any of the eight consciousnesses, is not mixed, and cannot be used as a basis for clinging to self as true. Just by experiencing and knowing, it is free from all extremes of elaboration such as existence and non-existence. Just seeing it is like not meeting a familiar person from the past, and it is tightly grasped. That is the place and source of all the Tathagata's dharmas that arise from beginningless time, and it is naturally present as inherent. Once that nature manifests, there is no need to transform it into a god or other efforts and practices. Just by relaxing and letting go, the luminous mind itself will attain enlightenment together with the body adorned with marks and signs from the state of the Dharmakaya, which is free from elaboration, because when the dependent co-emergent mind appears as the Dharmakaya, it is impossible for its dependent body not to attain enlightenment as the Rupakaya. Therefore, before the Dharmakaya is manifested, even if the body is adorned with various marks and signs, it cannot be called the Rupakaya, just like the body of a Chakravartin. As the noble Vajracchedika says, "Subhuti, if one sees the Tathagata by means of the perfection of marks, then the Chakravartin king should also be a Tathagata. Therefore, one should not see the Tathagata by means of the perfection of marks." Thus it is said. If the Dharmakaya is manifested, then the ripening body itself is also regarded as the Rupakaya. For example, some Tathagatas become ordinary bodies such as tigers and rabbits. Also, some people think that if there are no marks and signs, then one cannot become the Buddha's Rupakaya. Then these people are equal to slandering all the complete Buddha images that are built with attachment, and all the bodies that have the three forms of anger, attachment, and ignorance, because the Bhagavan has the angry forms of hermits, yakshas, and rakshasas, as well as various headdresses such as the erect lingam, and many hands and many feet, and so on. Those are also like that.
