The true yogis will become nine types. These are also each divided into three types according to their faculties: superior, intermediate, and inferior. Among them, the first, the superior faculty, are those who practice the means of the secret mantra path. They are endowed with great compassion and have few afflictions, and they are solely devoted to meditating on the great seal and non-dual union. The intermediate faculty, although particularly inclined towards non-existence, due to being under the control of afflictions, their very nature is solely devoted to the seal of self-existing wisdom and non-dual union. The inferior faculty, although inclined towards emptiness, since the mindstream is under the control of strong afflictions such as desire, they meditate on everything by being endowed with the yoga of engaging in the samadhi of vows and karma mudras as appropriate. These meditations on wisdom, vows, and karma mudras as non-dual are also for the purpose of entering the great seal and non-dual union, so I say. All of these are non-returning in the state of ordinary beings, this is the instruction. For the superior faculty who diligently strives in the perfections, by meditating on shamatha and vipashyana, they realize the arising of the great seal and are endowed with the signs of non-retrogression, and being endowed with great compassion, they desire to always diligently strive in order to perfect the two accumulations. The intermediate faculty, having cultivated shamatha and vipashyana, have given rise to the non-duality of the great seal, but they are not endowed with certainty until they attain the ground of great joy. Therefore, since they lack the cause of certainty, great compassion, they do not desire to diligently strive in order to perfect the two accumulations. The inferior faculty is not necessarily endowed with the great seal, therefore, since they have not attained the ground of prolonged time, this person, due to lacking its cause, great compassion, desires to strive very weakly on their own path. These, initially meditating on shamatha and vipashyana, are said to be for the purpose of entering the meditation on the great seal and non-dual union.

Those with superior faculties who are particularly devoted to detachment, even if they diligently meditate on the truths such as suffering, are solely desirous of benefiting others. Therefore, these two will become Pratyekabuddhas. Those with inferior faculties, merely by diligently meditating on the truths, desire solely to tame and pacify themselves, and therefore will become Shravakas. It is said that those who diligently pursue the path of detachment will not become Pratyekabuddhas without meditating on the Great Seal of Non-duality. It is said that the Great Seal mentioned in this scripture refers to the selflessness of the nature of all phenomena, which is the seal of ultimate truth. Considering that there is nothing that does not touch or pervade the vast conventional truth of phenomena, it seems that all knowable objects that encompass the two truths are established as the Great Seal. Moreover, the common and uncommon aspects of the conventional truth of phenomena, for beings divided into nine types of faculties—superior, middling, and inferior—due to the difference in the vastness of their views, the Great Seal that relies on this is also differentiated by whether they comprehend it partially, mostly, or completely. Furthermore, in the words of Lord Gampopa, the so-called clinging to reality by sentient beings refers to the fact that Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, etc., view the phenomena of the Four Noble Truths as inherently real. The so-called appearance of illusion to the noble ones refers to the fact that the noble ones of the causal vehicle view all phenomena as illusory and free from elaboration. The so-called appearance of experience to the yogis refers to the fact that the tantric yogis, from the state of realizing all phenomena as illusory, bind the essential points of the channels, winds, and bindus through the interdependent means of secret mantra, thereby viewing the illusory phenomena again as more illusory than illusion, as the knowable objects endowed with the three indestructible qualities, as the appearance of the radiant Vajra, and as all forms of magical illusion. The so-called appearance of clear light or union to the Buddhas refers to the fact that although the Buddhas do not see any of the phenomena of the two truths as being established in this way, they comprehend all the phenomena of the two truths and attain the omniscient wisdom, which is an inconceivable view.
