Even if you look at it thinking it is something else, it will not change. Therefore, it should be understood in this way. Moreover, if it is grasped by mindfulness, it goes to the level of self-nature; if it is not grasped, it goes to the level of conceptual thought. I asked: Are simultaneity and after not confused? He replied: They are not confused. I thought, what is the reason for not being confused? He replied: Because only a part of self-nature is realized, and the entirety of self-nature is not fully realized. Also, because the duration of meditation is short. I further asked: Is it possible that this body matured by karma does not confuse simultaneity and after for a long time? He replied: If you meditate for a long time, it will merge into this life itself. I asked: What is the reason that when mindfulness is distracted, the conceptual thoughts of habitual tendencies arise naturally? He replied: Because the apprehended and the apprehender are impure. I asked: If one recognizes self-nature, even if simultaneity and after are not confused, will it prevent rebirth in the bardo? He replied: There is no doubt that it will prevent rebirth. I further asked: If one recognizes self-nature, but the conceptual thoughts that are not grasped by mindfulness become an obstacle to attaining Buddhahood? He replied: It will not become an obstacle. Because after recognizing self-nature in this way, these conceptual thoughts cannot perform the function of obscuration. For example, just as sowing seeds in the sky does not produce fruit, because all phenomena have entered the state of non-arising. If self-nature is not grasped during sleep and dreams, will self-nature be grasped in the bardo? He replied: After recognizing self-nature, even if self-nature is not recognized during sleep and dreams, self-nature will definitely be grasped in the bardo. Because awareness during sleep and dreams is less clear than now, while awareness in the bardo is much clearer than now, so it is easier to recognize self-nature. If one recognizes self-nature, is it necessary to cling to mindfulness and hold on tightly? He replied: It is not necessary to hold on so tightly. Relax the body and mind, and as long as mindfulness is not distracted to the side of conceptual thought, guarding self-nature, simultaneity and after can effortlessly merge. If, besides grasping mindfulness and guarding without distraction, is there anything else to practice? He replied: Besides the prompting of mindfulness, there is nothing else to practice. Abiding in that state, the one who abides is the supreme deity Vajradhara, everything spoken is the recitation of secret mantra, and everything thought naturally becomes the play of the nature of mind, so there is no need to separately practice deity, mantra recitation. Not doing so is also permissible, isn't it?

Indeed. As long as Buddhahood is not attained, by practicing deity yoga and reciting mantras, the essence will manifest, just as removing tarnish from gold, one's own body will be adorned with the marks and signs of the deity, and speech will possess sixty qualities of Brahma's voice. The meaning of what was said is: As soon as mindfulness is distracted, thoughts go their own way. The moment the six consciousnesses arise, the twelve sources of perception, both external (forms, etc.) and internal (consciousness, etc.), are mistaken as truly existent, and when this obscures the nature of mind, the illusion of grasping and being grasped arises, and thoughts arise from that. If, at that moment, such obscuration does not occur, but rather the mind itself, the co-emergent wisdom, enters into the non-elaborate mind, then the appearance of grasping and being grasped, without basis or root, will not arise as an illusion, and one will realize that the very nature of mind, the co-emergent wisdom, is free from elaboration. Thus, the mind itself, the co-emergent, will recognize itself as the self-radiance of the Dharmakaya, and the essence will become thoroughly clear, and no confused thoughts will arise. After realizing the essence, whatever virtuous or non-virtuous actions are accumulated are not accumulated by the power of clinging to the truth of the three spheres, and therefore, they do not become actions propelled by ignorance, the root of samsara. Therefore, one cannot be thrown into any place of rebirth in future lives. Therefore, such a yogi, for the sake of benefiting others, and for the sake of attaining Buddhahood again, takes birth through aspirations and desires, rather than being controlled by karma and afflictions, thereby severing the door to the four types of birth, and the appearance of the bardo of existence also becomes self-purified. Therefore, the venerable Chandrakirti said in the Entering the Middle Way, "If there is clinging to truth, it becomes an obscuration of afflictions." This is exactly what is to be proven. If one realizes the profound emptiness, in which the phenomena of grasping and being grasped are devoid of true existence, then whatever virtuous or non-virtuous actions are accumulated will not become virtuous or non-virtuous actions that are truly existent, like a lamp in a painting. The mere actions of virtue and non-virtue cannot even produce the cause and effect of virtuous and non-virtuous phenomena in conventional terms. Therefore, if a person with such realization does not awaken the lineage of great compassion for sentient beings who do not have such realization, they will fall into the extreme of nihilism, like the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas.
