, as well as at the moment of transference of winds, and when strong emotions such as attachment and aversion arise, and when strong faith, reverence, and compassion cause the channels to gather, and during deep sleep, and when the five sense consciousnesses have just seen their objects, before the clinging of the six consciousnesses has arisen, these eight occasions are temporary. Here, due to the guru's instruction on the coemergent vajra body's channels, winds, bindus, and mudra bonds, the winds enter the central channel in the three times. At the time of empowerment, such as vase empowerment, and when luminosity is realized in dreams, and when tummo and other practices are mastered through the power of meditation. It is said that at these three times, one realizes the meaning of things as they are, without alteration. The meaning of this is: When one becomes a Buddha, the conceptual consciousness that relies on the winds is separated from all the falsehoods of deceptive phenomena. At that time, its mount, the wind, also ceases with the cessation of connection. Due to the cessation of connection, just as walls and buildings collapse together, the corpse of karmic wind does not revive, but dissolves into the central channel. The four occasions from fainting to the moment of transference of consciousness, the winds gathering into the central channel are: The consciousness that has grasping and being grasped relies on the wind that flows through the life force channel. When the coarse grasping and being grasped consciousness ceases, the coarse life force wind gathers into the central channel. When strong thoughts of virtue and vice arise, the very nature of the mind manifests, and the coarse grasping and being grasped ceases, so its supporting wind gathers into the central channel. During deep sleep, all including the entering consciousness, afflicted mind, and so on, gather into the alaya consciousness, so all of its mount, the winds, gather into the central channel at the heart. When the five sense consciousnesses have just turned towards their objects, before the defilement of grasping and being grasped has entered, the subtle wind that supports the grasping and being grasped consciousness gathers into the central channel. Because this part is so subtle, ordinary people cannot perceive any external signs of the wind gathering into the central channel. When the coarse grasping and being grasped has ceased, if there is a yogi who has realized emptiness, who can recognize the subtle wind entering the central channel when the five senses cease on their objects, then at that moment when the five sense consciousnesses are clear and non-conceptual, without the defilement of grasping and being grasped entering, one can cultivate the unaltered, vast realization of mahamudra. Gathering the winds into the central channel in this way requires the upper and lower life force efforts.

It is not necessary to block the air; by letting the air rest naturally, it will naturally dissolve into the central channel. As Gonpo Drigungpa said, "Not holding the air, but letting it rest freely is profound." Therefore, a yogi who has attained the realization of the inseparability of appearance and emptiness, by practicing the entry of the air that is liberated from the five gates into the central channel, even though the coarse karmic appearances and karmic winds have not ceased, due to the support of that coarse wind, the subtle air becomes increasingly absorbed into the central channel. When the coarse karmic appearances and karmic winds, together with awareness, all become like a sprout whose roots have been severed, they naturally cease without effort, and there is a very profound interdependent momentum. Therefore, if one cultivates well the state of being free from all grasping and fabrication of the five gates on the objects, then all the self-arising thoughts of the two obscurations will cease, and non-conceptual wisdom will spontaneously arise. Toktsepa said, "Eye consciousness is conceptual thought, the non-dual wisdom is wonderful." If one becomes very proficient in this, one will not see faults in appearances or virtues in emptiness, and the realization of the single taste of appearance and emptiness will arise. Gyalwa Yang Gonpa said, "The arising of the five gates on the objects is the radiance of awareness. What arises from the condition of grasping objects is the nature of unborn. The experience of emptiness, clarity, and freedom from elaboration is the experience of self-liberation. Do not look at appearances as faults, let go of attachment, and you will arrive in the realm of the single taste of meditation." Therefore, the knowledge of the five gates is outward, and the consciousness does not add or subtract. Inwardly, the consciousness and so on do not grasp as self. That which is not indicated is also a manifestation of one aspect of ordinary consciousness. However, there is still a stain of ignorance of not indicating, not knowing the face of non-thought. That is the obscuration of absorption or the stain of bad states, the alaya consciousness, which is not obscured and not indicated. Therefore, it is also called the subtle obscuration of knowledge. Gyalwa Godtsangpa Chenpo said that this is how one attains enlightenment after destroying it with the vajra-like samadhi at the end of the ten bhumis. During the vase empowerment and other empowerments, when the conceptual thoughts of the five poisons, which are the possessions of consciousness, cease, the air that rides on them also dissolves into the central channel.
