91 91 Thereafter, the meaning of the great Jetsun Milarepa's examination of whether or not Jetsun Gampopa had mastered the winds seems to be as follows: To accomplish the activity of the great Bodhi of mind, it is necessary to have mastery and be capable. The wind that is the support upon which the mind relies must also have mastery and be capable of accomplishing the activity of the great Bodhi. Therefore, to gain mastery over the winds, one must first make the wind capable of accomplishing the activity of Bodhi. Thus, for the winds, one must make the life-force wind, which is the chief of all winds and the basis of the pure and impure alaya consciousness, capable. When that life-force wind performs virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral actions in the three places of body, speech, and mind above the navel, it is said to be done by the life-force. When performing virtuous and other actions in the three places of body, speech, and mind below the navel, it is said to be done by the downward-clearing wind. When performing virtuous and other actions in the lower parts of the body such as the navel, it is said to be done by the level-dwelling wind. When performing virtuous and other actions in the parts of the body such as the heart and throat, it is said to be done by the upward-moving wind. When performing virtuous and other actions in the limbs of the body, it is said to be done by the pervasive wind. Furthermore, when that life-force wind performs virtuous and other actions in the five senses such as the eyes, it is said that these five branch winds have each performed their respective actions. These winds are bound in those places of the body by wind yoga for the sake of generating the virtue of great Bodhi. When the respective places of the body are bound, one can exhale and inhale the wind in and out of that place by focusing the three, the object of the body, the wind, and the mind. At that time, the wind is capable. Therefore, for those on the path of desire, the practice of the winds such as drawing in, reversing, scattering, and spreading, which are the samadhi of the vidya, and the practice of the capable winds of transference and entering the city, are easily accomplished. The way to gain mastery over the winds is that the innate, ordinary consciousness itself is emptiness, its nature is unborn, and it is free from all elaborations. Realization is the basis of the accumulation of wisdom, and one gains freedom over the wind that is like the sky of manifest Bodhi. The innate, ordinary consciousness

From the very beginning, without interruption, free from all defilements, merely understanding the basis of interdependent origination, the accumulation of merit, and having obtained mastery over the wind-like illusion of blessings, in these two cases: When one attains mastery over the wind like the sky, the innate ordinary consciousness will manifest and be perfectly enlightened as the Dharmakaya, the nature of vast unobstructedness pervading space; when one attains mastery over the wind-like illusion of blessings, the innate, stainless, immutable base-body of form will manifest and be perfectly enlightened as the Rupakaya, the nature of the net of magical illusion. When one attains perfect enlightenment in the clear light Dharmakaya, it is impossible not to attain perfect enlightenment in the illusory body Rupakaya; when one attains perfect enlightenment in the illusory body Rupakaya, it is impossible not to attain perfect enlightenment in the clear light Dharmakaya. Therefore, the two bodies arise simultaneously, and the body that is never separate is called the sixth lineage, the state of union Vajradhara. The so-called six lineages refer to all the skandhas, primarily the impure five skandhas, all the afflictions, primarily the five poisons, and all sentient beings, primarily the five types of individuals associated with the five skandhas and five poisons. In short, all phenomena and beings exist within the nature of the five lineages, and there is nothing that is not encompassed by the five lineages. All these lineages are the supreme Mahamudra, free from obscurations, the Dharmakaya and Rupakaya are accomplished, and the lineage of inseparable bliss and emptiness is called the sixth lineage. Similarly, internally dividing the five skandhas, five poisons, and the five types of individuals associated with them, that is, from all aspects of phenomena and beings, from the perspective of being free from obscurations and transforming positions, they are called the Buddhas of the five lineages, the five bodies, and the Buddhas of the five wisdoms. Now, if the wind of Bodhi becomes workable, the Bodhicitta will also become workable. Therefore, now one must quickly gain mastery over the wind of Bodhi and the Bodhicitta, so there is no need to accompany me, go to the center. In that way, once the wind becomes slightly workable, it will not be necessary for the mind to involuntarily follow the actions of the wind, but rather a situation will arise where the wind involuntarily follows the actions of the mind.
