82 82 So, how does one actually see the Dharmakaya? The biography of Lord Gampopa states the following: He went to Gelung in Olka. He stayed there for three years, and then meditated for six years in Sewa Lung in Gongnyal. There, food became plentiful. It seems that meditation also requires food. There, he slightly saw the face of the mind. In general, it was difficult for me to generate meditation experiences. Only after having a good dream did I actually generate them, he said. When asked what kind of dream he had, he said: I dreamed that I found a basin full of gold, and that I had to write an Eight Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita with it. Soon after that, a definite understanding arose. First, all the teachings became knowledge within the mind. Apart from a little of coemergent union, I only meditated on Tummo. In that way, all meditation seemed to be conceptual thought, and conceptual thought was sudden. It all seemed to be in the mind, and it arose spontaneously from within. After that, the nature of knowledge was like meeting an old friend. Awareness clearly saw its own nature. Unlike the previous meditation, it felt very light and clear. All the previous teachings and songs of the lama became clear. Sometimes, appearances flickered like illusions. Sometimes, it was like being in a vast open space. Sometimes, knowledge went into its own nature alone. Therefore, everything became meditation, and there was no other object of meditation. The meditator and the nature of meditation were not found. All the teachings that had been heard, thought about, and meditated upon became outer shells. The nature of awareness became without support, so there was no need to rely on appearances. Sometimes it was emptiness, sometimes illusion, sometimes clear light arose, so there was no need to analyze appearances. Sometimes it felt like the experience had gone far away. But that was not the real experience. Since realization had become stable, there was not much to improve. Before, when confused thoughts arose, I wished they would disappear, but now, thoughts have become pure clear light, so I feel that they do not cause any harm. Since then, everything has become pure clear light. Until now, day and night, it has been continuous. The yogi feels that there is no death or bardo. Before, I recited many mantras, but I was still harmed by spirits. Now, reciting one mantra is enough.
