The preparation for the former rainy season retreat is done at the end of the middle summer month, and the acceptance of the retreat is done on the first day of the last summer month on the day after that. The latter rainy season retreat is connected to the end of the last summer month, and the acceptance is done on the first day of the first autumn month on the day after that. Here, regarding how to determine the beginning of the year, the acceptance time of the former rainy season retreat also has different practices in the fourth month (53a) of the Hor calendar, in the fifth month, and in the sixth month. Then, in the newly decorated temple, the Posadha is performed on the fifteenth of the middle summer month, and the precepts to be observed are declared, the disciplinary rod is displayed, and seats are arranged. On the first day after that, in the newly decorated temple, one squats in front of the monks and accepts the rainy season retreat. The latter rainy season retreat is also done in the same way. If one is alone, one can abide by making a vow, but faults will arise. During the rainy season, if it is necessary to go outside the boundary for Dharma-related matters, one squats within the boundary in front of a monk who possesses nine qualities, requests the blessing of the Sangha, and then goes outside. If it is necessary to go outside for seven to forty days, one requests permission for forty days. If it is for the sake of the Sangha, one asks if they are willing, but if it is for one's own sake, it is not necessary to ask. The one who is going out makes a request to the Sangha three times, and the Sangha grants permission for forty days through the Karma. Third, regarding the ending of the retreat. The preparation is from seven days or half a month before the ending of the retreat, if there are grudges, one asks for forgiveness, decorates the temple, and prepares Durva grass during the day at the end of the month. After the Sangha has gathered, one prostrates and stands up, and with reverence, asks for forgiveness for all (53b) unpleasant things during the rainy season. From the third constant practice onwards, until the recitation of the Sutra of Pure Morality, it is done like the Posadha. After that, the novices are separated, and pure intention, confession, and blessing are performed, as well as those who are like-minded in the dwelling. The actual ritual is that the Karma master asks the one who is suitable to be told to perform the ending of the retreat if they are willing, and then appoints them through the request and two Karmas, and then performs the request Karma for the sake of performing the ending of the retreat.

After that, the elder distributes the kusha grass in order. Then the other monks, less than three in number, sit squatting in front of the designated monk. Holding the grass with the hands of the place and the author. Pressing it slightly with the feet as well, recite the ceremony of disentanglement three times. If there is a need for something like harm to occur, it can also be accomplished by reciting the ceremony once or twice. Then count the bundles of grass and announce, "In this monastery called so-and-so, this many monks have performed the summer retreat." After making it understood, the other sanghas also perform the disentanglement well. Say, "They have performed the disentanglement very well." Then, the designated one also goes to the place where multiple disentanglements are needed, such as the sick, takes it and tells the sangha. Then, the disentanglement of materials, etc., can be known from the ceremony. If there are not more than four monks, it is not permissible to designate someone to perform the disentanglement, so instead of designating, the work of supplication and disentanglement should be done as before. If there are only two or three monks (54b), then bless the disentanglement. The disentanglement of the sangha is: if about a month and a half has passed, or if it is not the time of the new moon, and it is necessary to leave due to a sudden situation, if there is an elder among them, then prostrate and perform the disentanglement ceremony. Even if all the monks do not leave, if any monk needs to leave due to circumstances, this ceremony is also permissible. Having performed the disentanglement, the recitation of vows is also accomplished by it. If two or three recitations of vows have been missed due to circumstances, the situation in which disentanglement can be performed is if there is a dispute among the monks in that place, then do so. The basis for fully practicing the precepts.
