Explanation of the Fruit, the Buddha-ground. Explanation of the Fruit, the Buddha-ground. Secondly, there are five points: where enlightenment was attained, how enlightenment was attained, the essence of enlightenment—the form of the body, explaining one enlightenment as three, explaining that it contains profound meaning, and attaining enlightenment and (358b) showing the time of dwelling. The first point is: Because the moon appears brightly in the stainless sky, in past lives, you strived again on the ground of generating the ten powers. In Akanishta, for whose benefit did you strive, attaining the supreme, peaceful state. You attained the perfection of all qualities, the ultimate, the incomparable. Because in the stainless sky, the full moon appears, dispelling darkness, illuminating all beings, so it is able to appear. Similarly, in the past, when obtaining the Dharma of the Buddha, you cleared away the darkness of obstacles, and when you attained the ten grounds, you knew that you could manifest the Dharma of the Buddha, so the Bhagavan, you strived again on the Buddha-ground of generating the ten powers. For whose benefit did you strive, and in Akanishta, the Bhagavan, you attained the supreme, unsurpassed wisdom. That wisdom pacifies all elaborations, is perfect in qualities such as strength, and because there is no higher state than that, it is incomparable. Regarding Akanishta here, there are many different statements in the scriptures of the Sutra Pitaka and its commentaries, and I have examined one explanation. In particular, the Lankavatara Sutra denies that this Akanishta is the Akanishta of the Pure Abodes (Pure Lands). There it says: Apart from all pure abodes, Akanishta is a delightful place. There, the perfectly complete Buddha attains enlightenment, and an emanation body attains enlightenment here. Again, is it that enlightenment is attained in Akanishta, which is not a pure abode? It is not. There it says: In the desire realm and the formless realm, Buddhas do not attain complete enlightenment. In Akanishta of the form realm, you, free from desire, attain enlightenment. Based on these (359a) The great translator Kyabchok Zangpo says: According to these prophecies of the Lankavatara Sutra, it is clear that there is another Akanishta of the form realm that is not a pure abode.

None. Having said that, in the realm of form, besides the Akaniṣṭha of the pure abodes, what kind of Akaniṣṭha is there? One should extensively search for the sources in the scriptures. Secondly, there are two: things and the abandonment of debate. The first is: Just as the distinctions of containers do not distinguish space, so too, the distinctions made by things do not exist on that very thing, because of that. If you were to realize equality, then, O wise one, you would understand all that is to be known in an instant. Just as the distinctions of containers such as pots and basins do not obscure their sameness, so that the space within them is not distinguished, so too, the things from form to omniscience, and the distinctions made by worldly people and proponents of philosophical systems who impute various natures and differences, even though they are labeled as various distinctions, there is no distinction whatsoever in that very unborn nature. Therefore, if one were to be free from the elaborations of children who impute self and difference to things from form to omniscience, and realize equality, then, O wise one, your wisdom would understand all that is to be known in an instant, and you would attain the wisdom of omniscience. To establish the Buddha's wisdom in this way is without error in how it is established in the face of those who speak in accordance with worldly conventional dependent arising, because it speaks without any addition or subtraction to the other's views of dependent arising. Even so, the state of omniscience as asserted by outsiders and by our own schools, from the Vaibhāṣikas to the Svātantrikas, (359b) in which they know all that is to be known, does not exist, because their way of knowing all that is to be known cannot be established even in the unexamined terminology that accords with worldly conventional dependent arising. Because it cannot be established, such a way of knowing cannot be proven at all when examined by the reasoning of the other's views of dependent arising. So, if the Prāsaṅgikas do not establish their own system's way of knowing what is to be known, and when they say "knows" to others, how do they make a subsequent statement when they speak of the knowledge of others' views? It is not a common subsequent statement in the face of the unexamined conventions of those who speak in accordance with worldly conventional dependent arising.
