, and speaking in detail, because that would turn into it not being a knowable thing. (129a) Those people have abandoned the excellent tenet of Svatantrika from afar, because no matter which of the two truths any treatise of Svatantrika begins with, it does not appear that way. If it appears that way, it is seen as a broad refutation that that tenet is the tenet of Madhyamaka. In particular, if refutation exists in the ultimate, is it truly existent or falsely existent in the ultimate? If it is like the second case, it contradicts existing in the ultimate. If it is like the first case, then the Madhyamaka tenet would have a dharma that can be analyzed, because that kind of refutation is truly existent in the ultimate. (2. Refuting self-origination in conventional truth. (1) Because when the cause is destroyed, its result is still seen, the world does not accept that those are one. Therefore, those who want to seek the reality of liberation, in the Samkhya tenet, having refuted self-origination, even in the face of the world that does not accept it, self-origination is unreasonable, because the world does not accept that cause and effect are one. Because when the cause is destroyed, its result is still seen. Otherwise, the result would also not be seen like the cause, because they are one. 3. Therefore, this assumption that things arise from themselves is not reasonable in reality, nor in the world. The Samkhyas assume that all things arise from themselves, which is not reasonable whether from the point of view of the reality of ultimate truth or from the point of view of conventional truth. The reason is that it has already been said above that it contradicts reason. Here, the great teacher Lekdenjed said that it is necessary to make an ultimate distinction in order to refute the four extremes of origination, and some followers said that when origination occurs in conventional truth, it is necessary to accept origination from others, which is unreasonable. Because making an ultimate distinction contradicts the tenets of the Madhyamikas, the Samkhyas, the worldly (129b) people, and the Svatantrikas, it is unreasonable. Regarding this, it has been explained in detail in the previous explanation of the Clear Words, so it has been well established. It is unreasonable for things to arise from others in conventional truth, because if it were reasonable, then all things would be cut off from continuity.

Because the reasoning of Nagarjuna and his son, etc., can refute it. Secondly, if it is asserted that it arises from itself, then the object to be produced and the producer, as well as the action and the agent, would become one. If those are not one, then it is not appropriate to assert that it arises from itself, because it would lead to the fault of extensive explanation. If it is asserted that those results arise from themselves, it is unreasonable, because the object to be produced and the producer, as well as the action and the agent, would become one. If it is not unreasonable, then according to that reasoning, father and son, fire and firewood, etc., would become one. If it is not so, then if one wishes to enter the meaning of the two truths without error, one should not assert that things arise from themselves. As the teacher said: If cause and effect are one, it will never be reasonable. If cause and effect are one, the producer and the produced will become one. And so on, because it would lead to the fault of extensive explanation. Refutation of Self-Origination.
