Refutation of Self-Origination Refutation of Self-Origination Secondly, there are four parts to the extensive explanation of refuting origination from self, other, both, and without cause. The first part is the refutation in both truths and the demonstration of other paths of refutation. The first part is the refutation of self-origination in the ultimate sense, the refutation of self-origination in the conventional sense, and the conclusion of the refutation. The first part is that self-origination is meaningless and contradicts reason. First, if that arises from that, then there is no quality whatsoever. The Samkhyas say that the essence of cause and effect is one, that the effect exists in the nature of being unmanifest in the causal state, and that it is manifest in the effect state. This is unreasonable, and what is to be shown is: the existing sprout is the subject, it is not produced, that is, it does not arise, from the sprout that exists as the very nature of the seed itself. If it is not so, if that arises from that, then there is no additional quality or need, because existence is already obtained. Like a manifest pot. Second, the proposition and the establishment of reason. First, it is not reasonable for what has already arisen to arise again. Again, it is said: from the seed that has already been established, the seed that has already been established arises. Because the sprout that exists in the seed produces a sprout again. The sign is accepted. If pervasion (127b) does not exist, if the sprout that exists in the seed produces a sprout again, then the earth and sprout are one substance. If you accept, then it is not reasonable for the seed that has already arisen to be sown again and arise. The reason for this is: Second, it contradicts fame and becomes infinite, it is unreasonable to examine whether the characteristics are different or not, and appearance and non-appearance in the mind become the same. First, if one completely thinks that what has already arisen arises again, then the opportunity for the arising of sprouts and so on will not be found here, and the seed will arise infinitely to the end of existence. How will that itself completely destroy that? If it is possible to completely think that the seed that has already arisen arises again, then the opportunity for the arising of later fruits such as sprouts, stems, and calyxes will never be found.
