Chapter Two: Showing Impermanence of Death Chapter Two: Showing Impermanence of Death Second, explaining the impermanence of death, the root is: Existence, stable and moving, formation, duration, destruction, and emptiness, the four. By their nature, even if considered as the measure of an eon. It is also the world of destruction, belittled by names. To cut off attachment (to the permanence of the world), seven suns and one flood will (eventually) come. Meaning: The outer world has four aspects: formation, duration, destruction, and emptiness. First, in the emptiness of space, on top of the indestructible vajra cross wind wheel, there is a mandala of water, and on top of that, there is a great golden earth base, formed like a yellow tent. Due to the moisture of clouds and rain, in the center is Mount Meru, and the four directions are made of silver, lapis lazuli, ruby, and gold, respectively, starting from the east. The color of the sky in each direction also appears accordingly. Mount Meru is eighty thousand yojanas submerged in water, and it also rises eighty thousand yojanas above. It is surrounded by seven golden mountains like a ring, which are, from the inside out, mountains with the same height as the ridge of Yoke-Holder Mountain and Mount Meru. From then on, they decrease in height by half each time, respectively: Plow-Holder Mountain, Good-to-See Mountain, Horse-Ear Mountain, Elephant-Nose Mountain, Axis-Holder Mountain, and Ring Mountain. The spaces between these mountains are surrounded and circled by seven playful seas. The outer perimeter of the Ring Mountain is a wall made of iron, which is equal to half of it. The four continents outside of it are: East Videha, like a half-moon; South Jambudvipa, like a triangle, with the Vajra Throne in its center, where the thousand Buddhas reside; West Godaniya, round; North Kuru, square. The eight subcontinents are: starting from the east, the right and left sides of the four continents are: Deha and Videha, Camara and Aparacamara, Satha and Uttaramantrina, Kurava and Kaurava. Thus, the front sides of the twelve continents all face Mount Meru. The moving sentient beings also form in ascending order. First, there is Avici Hell, and above it are the eight hot hells, in reverse order above all beings. Twenty yojanas north of it are the eight cold hells, arranged in descending order. The Neighborhood Hells are also located in uncertain places. The Neighborhood Hells are four in each of the four directions of the hot hells, totaling sixteen. The main pretas are located five hundred yojanas below the kingdom of the Jambudvipa king, and most of the rest are also in the abodes of gods and humans, it is said. All animals reside in the ocean and scattered places, located in the desire realm. The first heaven's people reside in other continents except for Rakshasa Continent, and the people of Rakshasa Continent are all Rakshasas, so they are classified as the Rakshasa type of pretas. The second heaven's gods have two types: desire realm and form realm. The first of the six desire heavens, the Four Great Kings Heaven, is located on the four steps of Mount Sumeru, as well as above the sun, moon, stars, the seven golden mountains, and the surrounding mountain peaks. Gods of mountains, trees, and forests belong to the Four Great Kings category. Among them, the first step is the lowest, and in order are the ones holding containers, the ones holding flower garlands, and the four who are always intoxicated by honey wine. The places where the Four Great Kings reside are the four palaces: Dhritarashtra in the east, Virudhaka in the south, Virupaksha in the west, and Vaishravana in the north. The Four Great Kings reside there, surrounded by Gandharvas, Kumbhandas, Nagas, and Yakshas, respectively, starting from the east of the four directions. The enjoyments of the gods are immeasurable. Above the summit of Mount Sumeru, the width of the sun is fifty-one yojanas, and the circumference is three times that. Below is lapis lazuli. The moon is fifty yojanas, and the circumference is the same as above. Below is crystal. The thickness of both is six and a half yojanas and one-eighteenth of a yojana. The platforms of both the sun and moon are surrounded by gold and silver walls, and inside are filled with the son of the gods, the sun, and the moon is filled with many goddesses. The stars have various castles of crystal, gold, copper, etc., and the upper part is surrounded by gold walls. The lifespan is short, one-eighteenth of a krosha smaller, about one krosha. The second desire heaven is the Thirty-Three Heavens on the summit of Mount Sumeru, where the abodes of near-freedom are not mixed, and the assembly places of virtuous gods, etc. There are mainly thirty-two near-freedoms, the king of gods and thirty-three, so it is called the Thirty-Three Heavens. In the rooms at the four corners of the summit of Mount Sumeru, the Yaksha holding a vajra is the abode of the gods. From Sudarshana City to where the speed of death can be measured.
