Taking refuge with faith in the benefits of liberation, compassion for all beings, and generating the mind of enlightenment for the benefit of others through three aspects, recalling the qualities of the Three Jewels with the mind of a great person. Just as the sky cannot be measured, the white virtuous deeds and black sinful deeds based on the Three Jewels cannot be estimated, this is a common saying. If this refuge had substance and form, it would not fit in the container of the sky and could not be relied upon. Thus, the benefit of taking refuge is entering the community of Buddhists, becoming the basis of all vows, exhausting all sins and obscurations, like dispelling harm, not falling into the abyss of bad destinies, being protected, not being separated from the Three Jewels, seeing happiness and fulfillment in this life, completing the accumulation of merit, and undoubtedly achieving the state of the two bodies of form, namely the Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya. The result of refuge that transcends causes is unfailing, namely the three doors of liberation: emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. By contemplating them repeatedly in the state of the non-elaborate Dharmakaya, awakening in the realm of wishlessness is the unchanging Vajra nature. Its result is the collection of wisdom, namely the two purities, the purity from the beginning and the attainment of the state of purifying temporary stains. Furthermore, there are teachings, namely the two aspects of cause and result. The first is like a reward, possessing dominion, wealth, perfect enjoyment, etc., abandoning following the Three Jewels, and instead following outsiders or arrogant worldly people, engaging in non-virtuous deeds, no matter how much reward is given, let alone abandoning refuge for it. "Even for the sake of life, one should not abandon the Three Jewels." Secondly, having taken refuge in the lama, one should abandon evil deeds such as deceiving holy beings and spreading bad reputations. Similarly, having taken refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, one should not, in turn, take refuge in powerful gods who are trapped in samsara.

Do not pay homage to La, do not harm others, do not associate with non-Buddhist friends, and with faith, serve the objects of the Three Jewels. During the six periods of day and night, abandon forgetting the Three Jewels, nourish with mindfulness, and take refuge. The precepts of the result are: the Able One is the Dharmakaya, therefore, do not cling to liberation from it (the Dharmakaya) and the realm to be attained, the unchanging realm, with enlightenment as protector and protected, because it transcends expression, so the vow of refuge is also merely a designation. Severing the protective vows of the cause occurs when one who possesses the characteristics of refuge develops wrong views towards the object of practice. If the protective vows of the precepts are weakened, one will fall into a vulgar and inferior state, so one must guard them carefully as if protecting a wound. Those who diligently pursue the means of unwholesome actions, harbor the mind of a jackal, and seek opportunities, whose words are strict but do not understand the meaning and make mistakes, with hesitation and doubt, as evil vessels, diminishing the certainty of the infallibility of the Three Jewels, relying on sky-goers and pretenders who claim to show good and bad, such as evil spirits entering the body, will decline in this very life. From this world onward, the earth and sky, including Mount Meru, may change positions up and down, and the sun and moon may fall to the plain, but it is certain that the Three Jewels cannot deceive. Therefore, such firm conviction is always of great significance. Those who have gained such trust will see the Three Jewels even in their dreams, abandon careless behavior, remember mindfulness, be enriched by all the qualities of the two practices, remember past lives, and easily cross the fearful straits of the bardo, and will surely become helpers and friends to all fortunate ones. The concise commentary on the sixth chapter of The Treasury of Precious Qualities is completed. Chapter Six.
