Instructions for Following the Mother If you wish to practice the ritual of Following the Mother, first generate refuge and bodhicitta. From emptiness, upon various lotus and moon cushions, the white syllable 'PrAM(藏文：པྲྃ་，梵文天城体：प्रं，梵文罗马拟音：praṃ，汉语字面意思：无)' radiates light and gathers back. Transform yourself into Sorangma (Following Mother), with a white complexion, one face, and two arms holding a sword and a wheel. She is graceful and smiling, adorned with silk and precious ornaments, and sits with her legs in a rounded posture. Invoke the wisdom beings at the three places with seed syllables and dissolve them. The five families of buddhas bestow empowerment, with Vairochana as her crown ornament. On the moon cushion at her heart, the syllable 'PrAM(藏文：པྲྃ་，梵文天城体：प्रं，梵文罗马拟音：praṃ，汉语字面意思：无)' and mantra radiate light, offering to the noble ones and purifying the obscurations of sentient beings. Recite this king of secret mantras. At the end of the session, from the space of the goddess, countless Manjushris emanate, benefiting all sentient beings in the ten directions. Practice of the White Umbrella Mother Wishing to practice the White Umbrella Mother, from the naturally luminous emptiness, in an instant, visualize the great form of ultimate reversion. White and clear, with two hands in the gesture of supreme generosity, holding the white umbrella. Completely adorned with silk and precious ornaments. Seated in vajra posture, with Vairochana as her crown ornament. Dwelling in a blaze of fire, sending forth clouds of messengers. Empowered by the Buddhas, honored by the assembly of bodhisattvas, and manifestly worshiped by the protectors of the world. At her heart, on a moon cushion, the syllable 'Om(藏文：ཨོཾ，梵文天城体：ॐ，梵文罗马拟音：oṃ，汉语字面意思：嗡)' and mantra garland radiate light, accomplishing the two benefits, and especially pacifying diseases, demons, curses, fears, and all harms, performing the activities of protection, reversion, and pacification. With one face and four arms, captivating the mind, with a youthful and slightly wrathful expression. The first two hands hold an utpala flower and draw a bow and arrow. The latter two hands hold an iron hook and a lasso. With three round red eyes, and reddish-yellow hair standing on end. Adorned with a crown of five dry skulls, and a garland of wet heads hanging down. Decorated with bone ornaments, silk drapes, and a tiger skin lower garment. With the right leg extended and the left leg bent, in a dancing posture, with a sun disc as a backdrop. Residing within a red aura, attracting the essence of samsara and nirvana. At the three places, wisdom deities are invoked and absorbed through seed syllables (yi ge). The five families (rigs lnga) bestow empowerment, and the head is adorned with infinite light.
