I have nothing. As it is said, like a wish-fulfilling king, whatever is desired arises. Secondly, the content of dedication is: offering to superiors, giving to inferiors, etc., in short, the four objects of gathering. And all the accumulation of the two accumulations from the gates of merit and wisdom, such as the ten perfections. In this, the field, intention, and object are all pure, and it is considered a great virtue of perfection. Slightly distinguishing the difference of the field, there are two kinds: the field of merit and the field of benefit. From the Lesser Vehicle, it is said that the upper one is more important, and the most supreme among them is the Three Jewels. The sutra says: There is no teacher like the Buddha, there is no protector like the Dharma, there is no field like the Sangha. Therefore, one should give to the three. It is said, and among these, the Sangha, which is actually enjoyed, is also particularly pointed out. In the Vinaya-vastu it says: Because it is the treasure of all dharmas, it is the gate of distinguishing all aspects, the Sangha is called the action, and everything should be given to the Sangha. Here, the view of the Mahayana considers that the inferior object should be cherished more than the good object. The sutra says: For those who have no support and no friends, the sick and the incapable, the old and frail and the defective, the poor and hungry and suffering, those with Bodhicitta, should accept these helpless ones. Although it is said to accept those who have been abandoned by others and have no friends, these vehicles do not fully represent, from the perspective of becoming a Buddha in one lifetime, the most supreme is the Great Secret Vajrayana, in which the best field is considered to be the Vajra Master. The Glorious Guhyagarbha Tantra says: If one offers with the essence of sons, wives, and wealth, as well as power and the five enjoyments, then one has offered to all mandalas, let alone the nearby mandalas. Regarding intention, the Bodhisattva-bhumi says: Bodhisattvas do not give for fame and verses, do not give to compete with others, do not give for fear of becoming poor, do not give to become Indra and a Chakravartin, and do not give relying on power.

One should not be stingy with generosity, only looking at the results. All generosity should be dedicated solely to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. As it is said, all roots of virtue should be cherished with the aspiration like a king, desiring to attain unsurpassed enlightenment oneself and also to establish other sentient beings in enlightenment; and with the aspiration like a ferryman, desiring liberation together with oneself and other sentient beings; and with the aspiration like a shepherd, accomplishing the benefit of other sentient beings alone, without regard for one's own benefit. Similarly, things should also be avoided that directly or indirectly become causes of harm to others, such as killing and taking what is not given, all that is accomplished by non-virtue should be abandoned. The sutra says, "Stolen, plundered, and monastic property, things that do not harm others, extremely cherished and pleasing objects, if needed, are excellent." And, "Substances of sin, poison, and wrong livelihood, weapons and the like, not mixed." As it is said, one should be free from all faults, with the generosity of Dharma, wealth, and fearlessness, that is, the six perfections led by the three kinds of generosity. It is necessary to be separated from those respective opposites. Third, for what purpose to do, the Engaging in Bodhisattva Behavior says, "Directly or indirectly, not for the benefit of sentient beings, one should not do anything else, dedicating everything for enlightenment." As it is said, all sentient beings, as infinite as the sky, from beginningless time until now, are only kind benefactors who have not been given, therefore, generate great compassion for them. Dedicate impartially for the benefit of all. By dedicating in this way, since the realm of sentient beings is immeasurable, the merit will also become immeasurable. The Precious Garland says, "The realm of sentient beings is immeasurable, so is the desire to benefit them." Fourth, after explaining the necessity and benefits of dedication, one begins to actually dedicate. Thus, even if there is a sea-like amount of contaminated roots of virtue, if it is not increased by pure dedication, it will be like generating anger towards a fierce place, or like the exhaustion of the four elements, the nature of Dharma that the virtuous result of merit will be exhausted after maturing once.
