Do not let children get into arguments. Even if a virtuous person is very poor, they are reluctant to take what is not given. Although there are many forms of adultery, breaking vows is a place of great fault. Likewise, avoid burning the hearts of others. Even for householders, lying is forbidden. A practitioner who enjoys deceiving others, as well as a monk who falls into the remaining sins of the Sangha, it is shameful to accept offerings. Likewise, sowing discord, etc., as well as the remaining three of the mind, understanding the cause and effect of the three forms of mind and intellect is also wise. Killing poisonous snakes and other creatures, as well as elephants eating superior grass, are as different as dryness and moisture. Shame and embarrassment are the best of foods. One must speak words without falsehood. The mouth that speaks is writing, but otherwise, even if one is eloquent, it is meaningless like a parrot. Showing silk to the blind, hanging pearls around the necks of livestock, teaching the Dharma to those without faith, these three things are all a waste of time. Being confused about the meaning changes of sounds, not being able to distinguish between valid cognition and the reverse of matter, not having the dimensions of craftsmanship, not understanding the digestive results of medicine, inner learning that is confused about the scriptures, even if it is culture, it is only an image. Being very skilled at protecting one's own sect, is also found among non-Buddhists. The person who is able to distribute desires is an upright person. Even if tormented by strong desires, they do not take off the clothes of shame and embarrassment. Such a person is called noble, and is also found among wealthy young people. If one enters battle, although brave and fearless, they are gentle and kind to the people of the village, and have compassion for the lowly. Such a person is called a hero. Spreading bad rumors about noble people, being very nostalgic for childhood friends, not being able to raise one's head in front of one's wife, is a woman who is like a man. Having little power to accomplish the two systems, not knowing the boundaries of benefit and harm, mainly aiming to fill the stomach, is truly a small person of water and forest. A teacher without merit, a doctor without bodhicitta, and a debater without fair words, these three are the root of more harm than good. A scholar who is arrogant, a great person who is full of pride, and a rich person who is bound by stinginess, these three are the parasol on the head of a poisonous snake. Although there is no shame in begging, if one says they will not give, then

even lower. Saying "giving" is a sacred word, saying "not wanting" is even more excellent. Just by protecting oneself, one should also accomplish benefiting others. Have you seen how one bee treats another? Relying on a bad lord, boarding a dilapidated boat, and drinking seawater, these three, are the causes of creating fear for life. Arriving at a bad place, having power but no shame, pigeons entering a temple, these three, are like a nightmare causing much suffering. Dewdrop water and grass fire, the shade of clouds and the shelter of reeds, the friendship of bad people, these five, are like deceiving you when needed. Killing and harming for barley, stealing by means and committing adultery, the source of non-virtue such as lying for profit, if said to be in the hands of prostitutes, On top of that, there are bad areas, and those who do not fear robbers, guiding gambling practitioners, selling discipline is the work of demons. Hard land and unprofitable business, unsubdued horses and slaves of thieves, the five kinds of deceitful women, are the great droughts that destroy families. A king committing evil deeds, a minister taking bribes, and oppressing the people like Mongols, these three, are like hammers destroying territories. A general without courage, soldiers without armor and weapons, not knowing the advance and retreat of the army, this is holding the asceticism of the heretics. Using crooked judgments, slander without discernment, and indulging thieves, these three, are the precursors to the destruction of the law. The property of temples and lamas, the affairs of Khenpos, teachers, and Sanghas, and the three virtues with bad intentions, are the diggers for going to bad destinies. Rebelling against superiors and unrestrained alcohol, men craving women's food and drink, sleeping at midnight and eating at midnight, these five are the causes of increasing suffering. Living by begging and speaking arrogant words, burning and groaning in the place of eating, not thinking of the kindness of parents, these three are the reasons for the shame of the wise. Altruistic activities that are not timely, empty talk without experience, and prophecies blessed by demons, these three, are beautiful to fools. Obtaining a human body is only this time, having leisure and endowment is only once, not relying on a spiritual friend with effort.
