Just as it is said, "If you climb the ladder, liberation is near," although it is not directly stated as the cause of higher realms, it is because it is the stepping stone to enter the Dharma that is realized indirectly, and thus it is for the purpose of leading to the vehicle of gods and humans. The latter is established as the twelve branches of scripture in terms of expression, but in terms of antidote, it is determined as the three baskets. All of these arise from the common cause of realizing the nature of reality, or the common cause of realizing the realm of Dharma. As it is said in the Nirvana Sutra, "Great rivers flow into the ocean, flow, merge, similarly, all dharmas flow into Nirvana, flow, merge." Likewise, all the Tathagatagarbha flows and merges into the single ultimate meaning, which is called the supreme Dharma of realizing the result. Among them, there are two distinctions: one is that which has become free from desire, and the other is that which causes one to become free from desire. Therefore, Lord Maitreya said, "That which is free from desire by what, that which has the characteristics of the two truths is real, the cessation of freedom from desire itself, and the truth of the path encompasses them." That is to say, that which abides in the nature of the result is the Dharma of the truth of cessation, and that which abides in the nature of action is the Dharma of the truth of the path. Even so, this distinction of the meaning of Dharma by means of treatises is not understood by those who are of inferior intellect, who have not entered a philosophical system, who cling to appearances as real, who are confused about the meaning of the words of the Dharma, who are not embraced by noble beings, who confuse wisdom and compassion, who wander on the wrong path, who have lost the view of solitude, who have abandoned scripture and reason, and who confuse Dharma and individuals. Therefore, for these people, combining stories and easy-to-understand language, and explaining without relying on scriptural and logical arguments, seeing that great benefit can be achieved, the collections of arbitrary stories are compiled into chapters. Because all who enter the path of liberation and abandon samsara are the tenets of the teacher Buddha. As it is said in the Uttaratantra, "Among the three realms, that which speaks of abandoning afflictions, that which speaks of the qualities of peace, that is the speech of a sage, the opposite is other." The first chapter of the Collection of Stories is complete. The First Chapter of the Collection of Stories, Collection of Stories.
