The disease of vital air is explained in five ways: its causes, conditions, diagnosis, and treatment methods. Causes: Greed arising from ignorance, leading to the latent state of air disease. Conditions: Sorrow, harsh words, insomnia, fearful actions, etc., all factors that disturb the mind, especially spirits and the King Demon (འབྱུང་གདོན་སྤྱི་དང་རྒྱལ་པོ), relying on their power to manifest various symptoms. Symptoms: The pulse is empty and floating, changing frequently in an instant, the urine is bluish with a slightly reddish tinge, with sound and rapid disappearance, especially with bubbles the size of beans constantly appearing in the center of the urine. Diagnosis: Provoked by coarse food, fasting, and speech, restlessness, causeless fear, lack of sleep, body trembling, many disturbing dreams, difficulty in breathing, and the production of much impure air. Treatment methods: Four ways: medicine, mantra, diet, and behavior. First, ginger, dried ginger, nutmeg, edible salt, long pepper, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, and long pepper, as well as three types of bone marrow essence, are prepared in proportion. Take with alcohol or decoction in the evening and morning to expel impure air. Alternatively, use secret medicines such as calamus and cinnamon, decocted with edible salt, and take during air disease attacks. After that, prepare a powder medicine, adding agarwood, nutmeg, ghee, bamboo pith, white sandalwood, rue, and haritaki, which is the Agarwood Eight Pill from the Outer Tantra, then add cloves, large meat, and cinnamon, known as the "Eleven Vital Roots," which is effective for upper body pain such as chest pain, intercostal pain, difficulty in breathing, and excess mucus. Alternatively, a twenty-ingredient formula made with the fragrance of sandalwood, cloves, as well as stone flower, saffron, marmot heart, rhinoceros horn, fish glue, emblica, and terminalia, can treat blood-air conflicts, planetary diseases, and white vein diseases, as well as air entering the dhātu, epilepsy, and fainting.
