Homage to the Guru Padmakara! Herein lies the heart essence of the glorious Omniscient One of the Three Times, Orgyen Rinpoche. It is the very essence of all tantras, transmissions, and pith instructions. More essential than the heart essence of a hundred million heart practices, it possesses inconceivable wonders and blessings. This is the basis or root of the Dharma collection of the Guru's Heart Practice, Dispeller of All Obstacles, the Self-Arisen Liberation Through Reading, the seed tantra of the Vidyadhara's Magical Net, the Essence of the Lotus Heart. The essential recitation is condensed as follows: Sit comfortably on a pleasant seat, engaging in the practice of meditation. With the force of renunciation, compassion, and devotion strongly aroused, visualize the refuge field in the sky before you as if it were actually present. Homage! Guru, Lord who pervades all lineages; Yidam deity, source of accomplishments; Assembly of dakinis, dispellers of all obstacles; I take refuge in the Three Roots. Three times. Ho! May all sentient beings who have been my mothers attain the state of Buddhahood. I will restrain all misdeeds, gather virtuous Dharma, and constantly generate the altruistic Bodhicitta. Three times. May all sentient beings have happiness and its causes; May they be free from suffering and its causes; May they never be separated from happiness without sorrow; May they realize the equality of all phenomena. Dza Hum Bam Ho! Think that the assembly field dissolves into yourself. The yoga of myself is: Ah! In the nature of the clear light, emptiness, and space, Wisdom and awareness are self-arising. My body is the immortal Padmasambhava, With a radiant white and red hue, in a peaceful and wrathful demeanor. The consort holding the vajra and bell is white, Joining in holding the vajra skull cup. Adorned with silks and precious bone ornaments, In the posture of union of skillful means and wisdom, Amidst the expanse of the five-colored rainbow light, He dwells upon a lotus, sun, and moon seat. The peaceful and wrathful deities of the three roots of appearance and existence, Are clear like an opened sesame pod. From the Copper-Colored Glorious Mountain, emanate wisdom beings like myself, Descending like rain.
