A Concise Method of Offering and Supplication to the Powerful Sage and the Sixteen Elders with Their Retinue, Called "The Auspicious Sound of the Clouds of Merit." A Concise Method of Offering and Supplication to the Powerful Sage and the Sixteen Elders with Their Retinue, Called "The Auspicious Sound of the Clouds of Merit." A Concise Method of Offering and Supplication to the Powerful Sage and the Sixteen Elders with Their Retinue, Called "The Auspicious Sound of the Clouds of Merit," thus it abides. Namo Munindra Sthavirebhya! To the Powerful Sage and the assembly of Elders, I prostrate with supreme reverence. The method of offering to them, Is the auspicious sound of the clouds of merit. This has three parts: preliminaries, main practice, and conclusion. Firstly, in a secluded and beautifully arranged place, one who has taken vows, whose discipline is pure, and who abides in bathing and cleanliness, before the representations of the Three Jewels such as images of the Powerful Sage and the assembly of Elders, in the center of the mandala, a sixteen-petaled lotus mandala with four sides and four doors, arrange a number of seats corresponding to the number of deities to represent their dwelling places. In front of that, arrange offering mandalas and twenty-one sets of the five offerings, or as many as possible. Place one torma each for the Four Great Kings, or combine them into one, and if elaborate, place one torma each for the directional guardians and local deities as well. Then, sit comfortably on a seat, preceded by purifying the mind with renunciation and bodhicitta. "To the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha supreme," and so on, take refuge and generate bodhicitta in whatever way you know, whether elaborate or concise. Meditate on the four immeasurables, such as "May all sentient beings have happiness." Focusing on the place and the objects, by the power of the truth of the Three Jewels, and the blessings of all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, the great nectar of the complete accumulation of the two accumulations, and the power of the pure and inconceivable realm of Dharma, at this very moment, these surrounding grounds are like the arrangement of the Sukhavati realm, adorned with all the perfect and beautiful ornaments, in the center of which is a four-sided palace made of various jewels, with four doors, made of the essence of various jewels, filled with various objects, and in the center of that, a jewel.

A vast lotus throne and a moon cushion. Surrounded by sixteen lotus seats. Inside the east gate, there is a pavilion, and all four gates are equipped with jeweled cushions. May everything inside and out become offerings clouds arising from the liberation of the Noble Samantabhadra's practices, appearing inconceivably and continuously! With the power of this truth, if desired, bless with the dharani of the offering clouds. Then, burn incense and with one-pointed devotion, as flat as the palm of the hand, adorned with precious jewels. And so on, for the benefit of beings, invite them to come with offerings. After such an invitation, from the state of their own nature, may the Bhagavan Tathagata Arhat Samyaksambuddha, the King of the Shakyas, together with the retinue of sixteen great Arhats, and the subsequent lay devotee Dharmatala, the Four Great Kings, and so on, descend with immeasurable great compassion and unobstructed miraculous power, and joyfully reside in the blessed palace.
