The seed of words and meanings that unerringly shows the system of views upheld by the venerable Sakya father and sons. The seed of words and meanings that unerringly shows the system of views upheld by the venerable Sakya father and sons. This is the treatise called "The Seed of Words and Meanings that Unerringly Shows the System of Views Upheld by the Venerable Sakya Father and Sons." Namo Guru Bhya. From the oral instructions of the great Sakyapa, such as Lamdre, the essential points of the view are condensed into two: the Madhyamaka view taught in the context of the three appearances, and the excellent distinctions of the wisdom Mahamudra taught in the context of the three tantras. The first also has two oral instructions, those of the noble Nagarjuna and the Lord Maitreya. The first of these is: The teacher Aryadeva said, "First, turn back non-merit; in the middle, turn back self; finally, turn back all the basis of view; whoever knows this is wise." The meaning of this is: First, relying on impure appearances, generate renunciation, and cultivate love, compassion, and conventional bodhicitta within the appearances of experience. By these, turn back non-meritorious actions and place oneself in the state of higher rebirth. In the middle, when cultivating ultimate bodhicitta, cut off the proliferation of clinging to reality and turn back the grasping at self, thereby placing oneself on the ground of liberation. That is, identify the grasping at reality that grasps the five aggregates of one's own continuum as real. Like this, if it were established as real, then it should be established from the beginning without depending on any cause or condition. But since these are established only from causes and conditions, it is determined that they are not established as real. Having taken this to heart, first focus intently and cut off the conceptual thoughts of grasping at reality. In the middle, relax the mind loosely on the emptiness of reality. Finally, alternate or maintain one's own position, and remain in a state of amazement and suddenness, with the awareness of view and meditation in equipoise. Having gained confidence in this, all phenomena will easily be understood as unreal. At that time, the previously arisen calm abiding, being seized by the key points of the view, will transform into union. Finally, both karma and afflictions arise from conceptual thoughts of grasping at reality. And since this arises from proliferation or grasping at characteristics, the basis of the view that thinks "unreal" is also encompassed by all turning back, thereby obtaining the wisdom of omniscience.

arises. Therefore, without continuing the certainty that all dharmas are without inherent existence from the key point of dependent origination, the emptiness of objects cannot be grasped in any way, whether it is existence or non-existence, because it is not the object of experience for those with minds that grasp at the two. Having decided this way, abandon all views of the mind that take objects as ignorance of proliferation, and rest peacefully in non-grasping. Therefore, the venerable Manjushri said, "If grasping arises, it is not a view." This refers to the grasping at reality in the stages of view, and the meaning of abandoning the grasping at characteristics at the end. Secondly, the self-nature of the ground-time, clear light, free from elaboration, is the cause of both samsara and nirvana. Not recognizing this, the afflictions that arise as the duality of grasper and grasped, including manifest and latent tendencies, are the root of samsara, innate ignorance. Therefore, the root of this must be cut and absorbed into the expanse. There are two types: cutting the illusion of the grasped and cutting the illusion of the grasper. The first has three: seeking the samadhi of obtaining warmth, seeking the samadhi of the arising of the peak, seeking the samadhi of realizing the formless patience. The first is that although the wisdom of self-awareness, free from the duality of grasper and grasped, which transcends all extremes of elaboration, abides in one's own mind-stream, it is an obscuration because these external objects are grasped as separate from one's own mind, so it must be removed. The way to remove it is to determine that these are merely illusions of the mind, and in reality, there is not even a particle of independently existing reality, and thus generate experience. Therefore, generate certainty about external objects, thinking that these are merely illusions of one's own mind, and in reality, they are not truly established. Secondly, that luminosity greatly increases, and a very clear experience arises. Thirdly, again, through effort, the manifest illusions of the grasped, which obscure the mind in one's own mind-stream, are purified, and clarity and bliss arise especially in the mind. At that time, although the internal illusion of the grasper has not disappeared, the external illusion of the grasped has disappeared, and no grasping at reality arises, so it is also called the samadhi of obtaining warmth. Secondly, again, through effort, that illusion of the internal grasping mind also disappears, and one's own mind is clear light, and the luminosity greatly increases.
