The Rainbow Umbrella of Distinguishing the Two Truths. The Rainbow Umbrella of Distinguishing the Two Truths. Various methods of meditation are taught, as well as practices such as exchanging oneself with others and cultivating the mind of enlightenment. By practicing in this way, it is said to be connected to the profound Prajnaparamita. For those with superior faculties, the final turning of the wheel is given, especially the wheel of the Secret Mantra Vajrayana. The views, meditation, and practices of the lower schools are practiced in common. Then, the uncommon views, meditation, and practices are cultivated, thereby attaining the result of the two kayas and spontaneously accomplished activities. However, you scholars of the lower schools, instead of practicing the three aspects of view, meditation, and conduct that are in accordance with your respective schools, you obscure the sun of our teachings with coarse behavior, hypocritical religion, and clouds of wrong views. Furthermore, those who engage in study, contemplation, and meditation within the middle turning of the wheel, if our four great schools are divided into three vehicles, although the distinctions of knowable things are inconceivable, they can be summarized into the Four Noble Truths, the Three Natures, the Two Truths, the Three Aspects of Inner, Outer, and Other, and so on. It is taught that suffering should be known, origin should be abandoned, the path should be cultivated, and cessation should be attained. Among these, the first three truths are conventional truth, and the truth of cessation is ultimate truth. Among the Three Natures, the imputed nature and the dependent nature are both conventional truth, the non-inverted perfected nature is conventional truth, and the unchanging perfected nature is ultimate truth. Within the Two Truths, there are also two kinds of truth, two kinds of appearance, two kinds of emptiness, and so on. In the self-commentaries of the middle turning of the wheel, the categories of what should be abandoned (the obscurations), what should be eliminated (the antidotes), and what should be attained (the results) are clearly distinguished for all phenomena from form to omniscience. Among the four great schools, the Vaibhashika and Sautrantika are distinguished within the Realists, the two aspects of true and false are distinguished within the Mind-Only school, and the two aspects of with-appearance and without-appearance are distinguished within the Madhyamaka school. Among the Three Aspects of Inner, Outer, and Other, the inner and outer are conventional truth, and the other is ultimate truth. The noble Maitreya, Manjushri, and other bodhisattvas are our intention.

Even those who are well-versed in the scriptures have already completed the corresponding corrective measures. However, you, who have not opened the eye of meditation on the wisdom of listening and contemplating, categorize all knowable things into two: entities and non-entities. You further consider entities to be of two types: real entities and cognitive entities. If you examine and analyze real and cognitive entities with reasoning, such as one and many, separation and non-separation, they are like trees in water, nothing can be established. On this self-emptiness devoid of essence, you impute dharmata and the nature body, and say that Buddhas do not have wisdom, etc., teaching doctrines that do not accord with our scriptures. Also, you who consider yourselves to be accomplished meditators, because you have not severed the pure superimpositions of listening, contemplating, and meditating, have not unlocked the key points of the three baskets, have not opened the latches of the six extremes and four modes, have not distinguished between inferior and superior dharmas, are confused about what to accept and reject, have not exhausted the source of profound instructions, do not understand the growth of experience, and have not established the depth of definitive understanding, you decide that all dharmas encompassed by samsara and nirvana are mind. You consider mind to be without foundation or root, empty and devoid of anything. If you search for its nature, you cannot find it; if you look, you cannot see it. You consider the ordinary, naked awareness that pacifies the conceptual thoughts of the three times to be enlightenment if realized, and samsara if not realized. The three: clarity, emptiness, and movement, are the three kayas. Abiding and movement are the meditation of the union of shamatha and vipashyana. Other than that, there are no other three views, meditations, and actions, or three bases, paths, and results. You do not desire a Buddha other than conceptual thought. Without abandoning afflictions, purify the three places. If you recognize the nature of the five poisons, it is enjoying with wisdom, it is co-emergent wisdom, it is equality wisdom, it is discriminating wisdom, it is accomplishing wisdom. It is the non-duality of equality and subsequent wisdom, samsara and nirvana are without distinction, and so on. Relying on many personal views that contradict our scriptures, clinging to the fortress of nihilistic views, sleeping in the nest of non-action, engaging in unrestrained behavior, slandering the Buddha of true meaning, disregarding the law of karma, leading yourselves and many others onto the path of the lower realms. Therefore, in order to be saved from these, please look upon us with compassion as a protector. Therefore, understanding the key points of cause and effect and the growth of happiness and suffering, the golden letter writer, driven by the intention to seek liberation from the dharmas of samsara, is earnestly requesting us. In reality, that is how it is.
